Intake for Northwest

Yeah, I searched. And yes, it's been covered plenty of times, but not in a northwest flavor.

So, I'm making the assumption that the air here is denser, more humid and colder than most places.

That being said, whats a recommended intake/and what intakes do you guys run?

I was considering the AEM CAI, but since we are already in the cold, I've decided to go with a Short Ram Intake.

Just wondering if you could chime in your 2 cents.

I've been looking at the AMS, the Agency Power, and the K&N typhoon...etc

Cheers!

ETS, EnglishRacing SD intake (alot of cars around here), Whatever you can find. I dont recommend the Perrin on a MAF car because of the oil in the Uni filter can degrade the MAF over time.

Yeah I've been looking at that one.

Not all that good with acronyms, but looks like its got the piping and the heat shield.

How does it sound, and what if I don't have a boost controller?
Can I just run it with Cobb ap? Or need custom tune?

SD = Speed Density
MAF/MAS = Mass Air Flow/Mass Air sensor (that box thing on your stock intake pipe that has a plug coming off of it) = Stock setup

I have ETS on my X. Not only do they make great parts, but buying from them supports WA locals.

Is the filter on the ETS K&N oiled? I'm thinking about switching away from the AEM one, but don't want an oiled filter.

Yes, it's a KN oiled filter. We have never had a problem with an oil filtered filter. We have sold 100's of intakes for both the evo 8/9 and the X.

I'm pretty sure you can get an amsoil filter with a 5.0" inlet as well.

Thanks!

I've got no beef with oiled filters, but I get dirty alot and get so tired of cleaning them. I end up cleaning the dry ones much less often.

So on that note, can you sell it to me without a filter?

What model intake do you offer for a IX on stock turbo with SD that does NOT need a filter? Both your 3" and 4" have the same description and images.

I am an Amsoil vendor so I will provide my own filter.
