Corza's 2.3L Evo 8 motor into Evo 6 build thread
Thought I might start a build thread for all you yanks haha!!!
First of all the motor was originally purchased from Slowboy racing over there. Once it finally arrived in Aus it was completely disassembled and reassembled to check there work. Yes I will admit partly because they have such a negative reputation over there and I needed to put my own mind at ease. In the end though there was nothing wrong with the build they had done and the only thing changed was a set of ACL race bearings put in.
The same builder did all the headwork and checked clearances etc. So now I have a long motor. So far this has taken around 6 months. I already have an FP Black for it.
So specs on current setup are here and a few pics of the car. The motor is now out and the engine bay will be cleaned up.

ARP headstuds
Cometic head gasket
Kelford 272 cam shafts
Fidanza cam gears
GSC beehive valve spring set
2mm oversized exhaust valves
1mm oversized intake valves
Ported and polished
Crack and pressure tested
New valves

A few things i would recommend (if you're open to suggestions)
* Kiggly HLA regulator. This will reduce oil in the head, and in your catch can.
* Evo 6 RS Steering rack. Soooo much fun in my current car, 2.1 turns lock to lock. You should be able to pick one up for cheap (i.e. $150) and it's easy to swap over with the engine out.
*brass shifter bushes and solid front engine mount (if you dont already have these)
What clutch are you using?

I am definitely open to suggestions. Have never heard of that HLA regulator, I will google it. The steering rack had crossed my mind, even if it was from a TME. I know the GSR one was not there best work.
Clutch will probably be a custom single plate, but not totally confirmed yet.

Steering racks can be found sporadically on www.trademe.co.nz, a NZ based selling website (like ebay).
If you need help i could send it to you in aussie etc. I have no idea what it would cost though! Let me know if you want me to keep an eye out for you. I ended up finding one for sale for $100NZD, which is about $80AUD at the mo.
stock steering racks are 2.6 i think, the RS is 2.1

Tell me about this "Hydrualic tensioner changed to manual screw type" item. I see it on the photograph of your engine and can quickly imagine how an adjusting screw would be so much better than the normal way of adjusting belt tension. What are the innards of this thing? Who makes it?

I am also running Manley internals.... awesome stuff.
Kiggly make the HLA...that limits the oil pressure to the head 15 psi.
I also changed my hydraulic lifters to that of top line. No more noisy lifters

The workshop who rebuilt the engine, JHH Engineering in Brisbane, Aus does these items. The hydraulic ones can be prone to failure and that's why he recommends changing to a screw type on all his big power 4G63's he does.
He actually has a Mitsubishi RVR with a big power 4G63 in it so he knows his stuff!!
I will keep an eye out for one of these steering racks too.

why is your crank trigger plate so new looking? you had to replace it?
