I pulled the head off a week or so ago and found a little contact at the edge of the combustion chamber where the piston made contact. I think its minor enough I can just smooth out the sharp edges and blend it back in with the chamber pretty easily. As of right now I'm debating whether or not to remove cylinder #3 valves or give it a few more weeks to find out they are bent. They have minor contact marks on them but I was told they will probably be bent from the hydro locking.

I'm emailing pte and fic as we speak to send some items back for inspection/replacement. I'm pretty confident the turbo is fine since I haven't seen any metal shavings in the pan or pickup area but better safe than sorry on my turo with only 276 miles on it. Speaking of which I believe the injector sticking is solely do to lack of maintenance/cleaning. When I removed the injectors last week #3 was holding fuel in the pintle area even though its been hanging vertical since August. In 2009 I had an issue with valve float and was coating the intake manifold with ethanol, it was so bad as it sat over winter it hardened in the vacuum ports and caused me bov not to function properly, that should have been a sign to remove everything and have it cleaned. The only thing I did at that time was flush all of the vacuum ports and not the injectors. I had planned on sending the injectors out for cleaning before start-up last year but so many things kept happening and throwing the schedule off I just spaced it. From now on it will get a tank of 93 ran through it three times a season and stored on 93 octane. I will also be pulling the injectors each winter to see if any buildup is present, if it is I will start sending them out to be cleaned at the end of each season. Pump ethanol is some dirty **** and I have learned my lesson, I don't feel I'm ready to switch to e98 or c16 yet so this is the next best option in my opinion.

The plan was to take the engine up to Marco in April but I might be ahead of schedule financially so it might happen sooner. I need to order a HG today and possibly a modified water pump from ER. I also have a few things to change in the fuel system and I want to get the core support repainted but I'm unsure if that will happen at the moment.

Sorry for the cell phone pics

You can see the valve contact, it was just enough to remove the carbon but not impact on the valve itself or piston. The contact in the chamber is also noticeable.

FWIW not sure if you got the e-mail from the good people at FIC but they sent us some specifics on storing your inj's if they will be sitting on the sidelines for a while.

Even though i thought i had mine put away well enough i still sent mine back to them to have them cleaned and checked out but thought i'd let ya know.

Thanks for the update!

I did not get an email, would you mind sharing that info? Mine usually sit from the end of November until around late March.

I just got off the phone with FIC, I think you are referring to pulsing them with a 9v battery and spraying wd40 in them for storage after e85 use especially. I'm going to test mine in a moment to see if in fact it stuck open or just corroded enough internally to have caused it to fail. Either way they are going back today to be cleaned and tested before next years start up.

If you want to put some really nice corrosion resistant spray on them.... Boeshield T-9. That stuff is pure win.

Looks like a 1500 5.9L gas engine?
