i need to get my hands on some alumalite to feel it. I bought ABS, because the description of alumalite sounded... confusing. But thick ABS is surprisingly heavy, and also ABS is easy to melt.

You in Pa?
Alumalite is basically like cardboard but the outside pieces are thin aluminum and the inside is corrugated polymer.

here's some pics of my rear diffuser. got some recommendations from chad at cbrd and this is what i end up with. i wanted quick release at first but the mounting design was too complicated. i wanted to get it done quick. maybe i'll redesign and make another one that's quick release later. this one removes pretty quick, just 5 bolts in about 2 minutes. putting it back on takes about 5 minutes. this is just in case i need to remove it to get the car on and off the trailer, or use the rear tow hook to strap down for dyno. i can probably also use the rear T-hooks to strap the car down for dyno but haven't tried that yet. my first track event will be next weekend at VIR. i'll try testing with lowest wing settings. maybe even take the wing off the see how the car does without the rear wing. i still have my old front splitter, but i'm planning on making a larger one, so i'm sure ill need the rear wing back on for that.

used foam board to get some proximate dimensions and clearance.

originally was going to have the diffuser hang under the exhaust which means it will be lower than the control arms. but then i moved it up, about level with the fuel tank, because i didn't want it to catch too much air.

I am not far away from SE Pa if you come home and want a sheet. I am just across the river from New Hope.

Nice work Thai!

I think it is about as close to QR as possible. I guess you could use some Dzus fasteners instead of bolts to make it really QR.I would think 5 mins is quick enough.

How big of a difference does that diffuser make? What are the main benefits?

haven't test on track yet. only drove on highway a couple times to make sure it doensn't fall off at 80 mph. lol

a functional diffuser will generate downforce more efficient than a wing, less drag. don't know if mine is functional or not yet.

I'm interested in lowering drag. Let us know if you can notice you're approaching turns at a higher speed than before

I have AIM data from a few track event last year. Will be able to compare data. Also, I can take the diffuser off at track and do comparison on the same day.
