R/TErnie's Evo 9 2.2L 4G64 EFR7670

I'm just curious since the I've been considering the 996/997. On these high horsepower builds do they do something special to with the IMS bearing? I know the turbos have a better IMS set-up than the non-turbos. Is that enough to take care of any concerns? Sorry if this is a newb question.
Sad to see such a nicely put together evo leave the community. Hopefully the new owner understands what he has.

commonly the 997 owners say they need to do some kind of coolant plug replacement because the pieces can come out if the car is tracked extensively. However it seems like it's happened to a few race cars, but not common on street cars, but the enthusiasts do it anyway to prevent engine failure. THey have a name for the procedure, but I don't recall what it was. It's a pretty simple procedure, but for people who can't get dirt or oil under the fingernails, you'd have to pay a P-car technician their rate to do a basic task. The number of pieces that need to be fixed varies per year, chassis, model, etc... some people say 5 some people say 8, and they're both right lol.
For the most part, they look like they're built like a brick **** house.

I can't say with any kind of solidarity on the IMS issue, but what "i've read on the internet" is that the 996 non-turbo it was a huge issue. The 996 turbo it was a rare issue, and on the 997 turbo it's a non-issue.

Anyway, I would love to build a car just like you are describing. Best of luck with it and be sure to show us what your up to.

Spent the last week or two reading through this thread, great build and what a credit to you.
When did you the rebuild of the head did you end up changing out the Kiggly valve springs for the higher rated items?

Ok,
So I have an update.
The R35/997.1 debate continues... Evo's buyer wont be down to drive the car and commit to buying it until March. I'm driving it in the meantime.
I've ordered a Burn Stainless 3.5" slip fit muffler so i can quiet the car down a bit. It's exceptionally loud. My friends inside their homes know when I go home and go to work.
I'm making a new front motor mount with a Energy Suspension bushing and some Chromoly tubing. That should tighten up the shifts a bit.
I'm having a fuel pressure sensor issue where it's shorting to ground.. need to figure that out.
Car runs great and the cold starts in Alabama are getting much much better the more I drive the car.
I'm also adding foam to the inner fender area to prevent rocks and debris from getting thrown into the door jam area near the side skirts.
Love the car. its a freaking riot.
