01 Mirage to Evo IV Conversion
I’ve been a huge fan of the Evo’s ever since seeing “Who am I?” back in 1999 or 2000 and was set on getting one. After much searching and talking to different RI’s back in 2003, Motorex said they could do it for about 45k. Unfortunately that was just far too expensive for a 16 year old so I ended up with a 93 RX-7 instead. Now nearly 10 years later I’ve owned and modified three FD’s, a Civic hatch, a Rubicon, and three Z33’s (including my current DD Nismo #871) and have finally decided to build my own Evo IV. (Thanks to BCspeed34, ArchieBabes, and 3bar_dc2 for such inspiring builds and posts.)
I already have an Evo IV front clip complete with just about everything I need as well as a 2001 Mirage that I will tear down to the frame, clean, paint and rebuild as close to an Evo IV as I can get (just not RHD). This will be all original panels, trim, etc. (no fiberglass replicas), with Evo IX seats, and painted Graphite Gray. Once I can find a rear floor pan at a reasonable price it will become AWD and get a 4G63.
More images and updates to follow.

It's definitely a lot of work and it's hard to stay motivated lol. I haven't quit, just waiting on parts to show up and haven't done anything new that's really worth posting yet.
Post up pics of the clip when you get a chance. I recommend doing the floor pan swap first. Once that's done, it's all downhill. Rumor is that the Evo 8 and 9 floor pan will work. I'm using a Evo 5 subframe, sway bar, and control arms w/ Evo 8 rear diff, axles, mustache bar, control arm brackets, and diff support. These parts are easier to source than a Evo 4 floor pan (they're different) and evo 4 rear end. It'll also give you a wider stance.
You'll need the Evo 5-6 gas tank and filler neck if you go this route.
Good Luck

DO IT!!!!! That's what I did. I sold my 2.3L Evo8 and my 30r 2.5rsti to fund a Evo5 conversion. No regrets.........yet

This is awesome and moving very quickly. Well done so far. I wanna do this too but I cant imagine selling my ix ever for any reason. Maybe a slow moving side project once I get something in addition to the ix for a DD.
