Cheers for that, we aren't O-Ringing either at this point.
I have everything pieced together, except timing gear.

What belt, tensioner, etc are you running? 4G69 gear?

Benja,

I used an oem Evolution 7/8/9 belt. They are strong, kevlar reinforced, and well priced. Oem 7/8/9 tensioner. Just used the oem Evolution 9 Mivec intake gear and oem Evolution 9 exhaust gear which I believe is the same as the 7/8 exhaust cam gear since it is non-mivec.

Great talking with you Gary and thank you for the kind words After a month in Panama with no one to talk shop with you can imagine how much I appreciated the conversation. Once I get the manifold and assemble the last bits of the car when back in the States I'll be shipping it. We're going to have a lot of fun man

Because of your build I'm taking the jump off putting evo head on my 4g eclipse.
I already got the head (dirt cheap, great shape) but still need figure out my rom file before start the build. Need to able to disable the egr and mivec since I'm using an evo 7 head, thanks for the inspiration.

Hey mate,

Quick question, The pistons are just Evo 9 4G63 spec yeah?
We are using the 94mm Manley crank, ordered JE FSR pistons at 87.5mm as well, they want a sample piston though which is a bit hard from Australia.

Since the deck height is the same, wouldn't they just be 4G63 pistons to suit 94mm 2.2 spec?

Cheers
Ben

The deck height is the same on the 4G63 and 4G69, but the stock stroke is 88mm vs 100mm. They both use 150mm rods, so to accommodate the extra 6mm rod height travel of the 100mm crank, the 4G69 uses 6mm shorter pistons. These are similar to the ones used when putting in a 100mm crank in the 4G63.

(100mm - 88mm) / 2 = 6mm difference in rod height

If you're using a 94mm crank then there's less stroke, so you only need to make up the 3mm of difference.

(100mm - 94mm) / 2 = 3mm difference in rod height

So I guess you could order standard 4G63 pistons, but you would need 147mm rods, or stroker style pistons with 153mm rods. Or, if you've already got the 150mm rods, some custom pistons are in order.

I took a pic of the 4G64 and 4G69 pistons that I have (i'm planning to do a build with one of these blocks ) which shows the shorter height of the 4G69 pistons. Hope this helps.

I used 150mm I-beams from Manley, custom 87.5mm Platinum series pistons from them as well. It's an easy equation

Also I now look to be in the market for a t3 manifold. Anyone interested in having their mani on this project let me know. Almost two years of waiting for my current one have left me with little to no hope of it or my money materializing...

Love everything happening thus far.

BTW, heads up on the BSE breather fitting. I needed a 120* or 150* fitting for it to clear, and even then it barely did. If you mock up your turbo kit definitely keep an eye on how tight that is in there because I waited until the entire car was back together and it was a royal pain to deal with.

Definitely. I'm sure Collin already thought through that anyway .

I've been good! I have a guy wanting to trade me for a C5z and I'm torn on whether or not I should do it. Yourself?
