hi Guys

For an Evo 9 Stroker Set up, can one just source a 4G69 Block:

Keep the 4G69 100mm Crank
#14022-4 Manley "H" BEAM STEEL CONNECTING RODS Mitsubishi Evolution VIII, IX (4G63T 2003-2006)
#608020C-4 Manley PLATINUM SERIES PISTONS 100mm STROKER / 87mm Bore

Will these off the shelf part numbers work? Will the Evo 9 Mivec Head bolt straight onto the 4G69 block? Sounds easier than a 4G64 conversion Project.

thanks
Sal

Sal,

My only concern would be the condition of the cylinder walls of the block you sourced. If new or absolutely mint in the eyes of a machinist/engine builder then sure, the stock 87mm would be fine but if not then a .20 over bore might be needed such as in my case bringing your piston size to 87.5mm.

My 9 mivec head bolted to the 4g69 block perfectly. Btw, sorry for the delay as gmail's spam service seems to have gone a bit haywire.

Also depending on your budget and power goals the Manley I beam might be a better choice for added insurance.

Thanks, no problem - I was just looking into building a spare motor for my IX

4G69 is obtainable here as they came on our Outlanders, just wanted to see if it was as simple as getting a few off the shelf parts...

but I agree with you 100% if Im going this way I will make sure the bore is clean otherwise 87.5mm for sure and I beams for insurance... yes.

Never been keen on the 4G64 conversion due to the deck height however this a 4G69 option does appeal to me...

regards
Sal

Sal,

It will be a real treat to see it all come together finally. On another note does anyone in the community have contacts with reputable international shipping companies? Looking for a 20' container to transport the car in. Ro ro just isn't an option as you can imagine what would happen to the car while waiting at the docks...

A couple of shots of the new Magnus 4G63 billet re-useable oil filter have just been added to the original post. It's a pretty impressive piece.

Just wondering how thick the cyl walls are compared to the 4g63 and how much power it Will be able to handle ? I have a IX that I would love to use this block in on a 6466 on the street .

I was going to use one of those 4g69 but it didnt pass the cylinder wall thickness test and I was advised not to use it. At 87mm bore stock I dont think rebuilding these with a bore is a very good option. Oh and the supposedly lightened crank of the 4g69 actually weighed 1lb more than the 4g64 stock crank.

Interesting. I was not able to weigh mine so have only been able to go by the info provided by Mitsubishi. Like I said, we'll see what happens. Honestly at this point the block will be one of the most easily replaceable items if there is catastrophic failure. Someone has to push it or it's all just speculation

Sorry Javi. Didn't get a notification to the thread reply. Waiting on time frame to open up for final fab of i/c pipes, catch can, and exhaust components. Primed the fuel system to test for leaks last weekend and wow does that 4303 sound awesome
