EvoSomeday's SCCA Street Modified 2013 build for Autocross

hey everyone. I go by Evo_Someday. I came up with that name when I first joined this forum back in 2007 because I new some day I would buy an evo. A year after joining this form, I bought a red 2005 Evo VIII and a month or two later I started autocrossing it in STU class.

Here I am doing my first autocross in the Evo on stock everything (aftermarket bling wheels) in April 2008.

Fast forward a few years to 2012 and I decided to get serious... Coilovers, sway bars, wide wheels, r-comp tires, fender mods, power mods, upgraded diff, you get the idea...

KevinD from EvolutionDynamics mouting one of the fat tires.

Here they are mounted with some flares attached. This year, I plan to go even wider! Maybe 305 maybe 315 maybe.... who knows

in Early 2012, I cut the front fenders and rolled and flared the rear fenders and made a front splitter. Here's how she looked as of June 2012 at the MOD (Mitsubishi Owners Day) at Don Herring Mitsubishi in Irving, Texas -- outside of Dallas.

Here we are ready for another autocross in May of 2012. Looks pretty good I think...

I have a youtube channel, under the name EvolutionAutocrosser, where I posted 17 of my and my co-driver's best runs of 2012. Enjoy, comment, and subscribe if you like because I'll be creating a some new videos for 2013 you're going to want to see. Here is my 2012 autox playlist. My name is Jeremy and my co-driver is Kent. Sometimes, when I have a bad day, he beats me in my own car.

Click on the box above the video that says "---> CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL 17 AUTOCROSS VIDEOS <---" to see all my autocross videos from 2012.

Installed lightweight carbon fiber racing seats and harnesses. I estimate this took out maybe 30 pounds. Maybe..

Looks like you are using the car properly. What kind of coil overs are you running? Your setup sounds pretty close to mine as I'm in SM also. This will be my first year on Rcomps.

Thanks! Right now I'm on KWv3, which are working nice, but I might switch to a larger diameter, monotube, inverted digressive system down the road. Good luck on the r-comps. I love running on them.

NEW for the 2013 season. Gigantic twin element wing. This thing starts making downforce at like 40 MPH. Just the thing for Street Modified class.

See how much larger it is than the stock wing..

This thing just doesn't look right -- like a giant tie-fighter on the trunk of an evo -- but it works!

Because those aren't wide enough right? Haha. Nice nevertheless. That wing on the other hand

I like the way you think. In fact, I did a little more fender modding in the rear in preparation for some very very big plans.

I traced a line around about 1.5 inches up from the fender opening and started cutting.

Here it is done. It actually looks pretty decent in my opinion.

This is what it looks like -- as of right now with the rear fenders cut and the wing put on. Nevermind the wheels - they are just 8.5" with stock sized 235s.

Ok I know the wing isn't beautiful but I didn't put it on for looks.

I'm just nervous about all that because once you cut the back fenders you can't simply go back. I'm doing the same, street mod in mine but the way I set mine up I can go back to stock over a weekend if I ever wanted/needed. Since it's on the road, you have it insured. Say something unfortunate happens to the car and insurance has to look at it, you'll be screwed. I have the same mentality, go over show all day I just get nervous

I admit I was a bit apprehensive about cutting on my car which I love so much. But I figured worst case scenario I could always install a wide body kit to cover up the mistakes I might have made. Fortunately, it turned out pretty nice and actually looks pretty clean.

Yes. Registered, inspected, tagged, and fully insured. I could be wrong but I don't see how removing a little sheet metal from my car would prevent me from being able to file an insurance claim should the car be wrecked on the street or stolen.
