Post Evo IV 4 Build Thread

Hi everyone just start off to say Hi to everyone, Right this is my first evo, im not new to the turbo scene but always wanted a evo, It came up on eBay with a blown engine and i thought it would be a great project to get my mits on, Anyway after a 350mile round trip i finally have it sat in my garage, ive spent the last couple of days taking the engine out, The block is totally shot and the head is salvageable with only a very minor bent valve, So im thinking about rebuilding the head with new valves and porting and polishing it, There are a few modified parts on the car like boot floor brace, hks dump, air filter and i think the ecu has been played with, The ecu says 8000rpm on the side which is frightening maybe why it blew in the first place.

In the garage undergoing surgery

This is the ecu, i still need to take it out and have a look inside

This is the millage, don't they have to be converted to mph by law?

This is the damage caused by a conrod bending
SUMP

BLOCK

Got the engine out Friday, was going to take it straight out of the top but my engine hoist hydraulic fluid needed topping so wouldn't go up far enough so it had to come out the bottom which was easy enough anyway,

Right people well its been a long month, I have run into many problems along the way and still no where near the finish, When I took the engine out I decided to do it all properly and repaint the engine bay but as soon as I started taking parts off I noticed the whole front end had been replaced poorly and basically they had replaced it then by the looks of it put it on wrong and bent everything to get the lights, bumber, bonnet to fit, Ive come to the conclusion that it has had a minor tap or someone has dropped the engine on the slam panel when they where changing it last time, So I was not happy , I originally bought the car and paid a lot of money for it as the shell was supposed to be perlin but it has turned out the opposite, Anyway I will not be defeated lol, I was going to re do it all but the car is a keeper (I hope) so I thought I might as well by new and do it right. Anyway Dave at Ears motorsport got me a genuine front end (Thanks Dave) Which was a perfect fit ( I measured everything best I could regarding the chassis legs to make sure everything was straight before I spent any more money on it, But I suppose I wont really no until I get in on the road and get it on 4 wheel alignment. Here is the front end which was twisted due to some numpty putting bent stuff back on the car

Got the new front end on all welded up, I built the car right back up to make sure everything fitted ok and tacked it on, Then stripped the car back down and welded it on properly, Grinded it back wacked on some paint to stop it going rusty until I get it done properly

This week ive been doing lots of sanding lol my arms are killing.

The front of the cari now ready to be sprayed properly, I have a pro lol coming in to do it me as I don't have the equipment to do it right. which should be happening on Saturday (27th)

Today im not at work so thought I would make a start on other bits. Im fitting AN fitting to my rocker cover so ive made a start with that, I have nocked the studs of and filled them flat so I can get them tapped along with the an fittings, Then when that done it will be off to be blasted and powder coated, One question though, The pcv valve will be staying as it is and my original plan was to fit one -10an fitting in the side but ive noticed people have had 2 fitted in the side, Why im doing it it it worth having two -10 an fittings fitted.

That's one baffle done just got the other to do

Given the chance to pick up an EVO IV in this condition,i would convert the body panel over to EVO V or VI or VI TME
Interior too(Seat and trim panel)
Given the chance i would probably do blue evo vi conversion with fighter xtreme cf front lip

This is my new engine, It is a Evo 8 engine that has done 20k. Got this from Cpp motor developments (Thanks GAz)
I will be running this on a tommi mak turbo GAz gave me some e9 560cc injectors and Ive just purchased a tommi mak ECU mapped to 360bhp (will have this on rollers asap to check fueling etc) and a walbro fuel pump, I have a 3inch straight through exhaust system and im just looking for a descent Exhaust manifold. That will be it for the engine mods till I get bored and want more power lol

I have bought a Mishimoto intercooler, It is big and has taken some fitting to get it where it wasn't touching anything and rubber mounted, But I will have to loose the fog lamps unfortunately so I will have to order so rs blanks.

Also I purchased a full set of evo ix brembo's Many thanks to Capt.Mike for meeting me with them.
