Have a 5558 gen 2 supercore in transit.
letsgetthisdone, I’ve had a shop do most of the large stuff because I had no time and no space to do it myself. Now I have space but time is still at a premium. I also want a working car after all this so I’ll find the time to do it myself.
Have a lot of history of doing wrenching myself that I will have to dust off the cobwebs to call it back.

Been taking my time and slowing doing this turbo swap. All my fancy inconel heat shielding makes it a royal pain in the *** to get to any bolts.
The upper half of the shielding on the exhaust manifold took me about thirty minutes alone to get off. I was trying not to bend it much but ended up giving up and bent the hell out of it to get it off. Hoping I can reshape it before putting it back on. The OEM exhaust manifold to head gasket with it's weird top heat shield is what was getting in the way. I think I am going to trim that part off when I put things back together.
Once I got the upper inconel shielding off I realized I needed to expand my tool library to get to some of the manifold bolts. Good excuse for more tools! So now I wait for them to be delivered.
Here it was before I mangled the upper inconel shield to get it off:

I am very interested on how the 5558 gen 2 performs, it should be fantastic. Any ideas on how to convince the bolts to keep their job of holding the turbo together?

That garage would take a 2 days to throw insulation in the walls and put up sheet rock.
