Street driven / road raced 2.4l X build thread

Hey everyone, now that I have some free time I wanted to post up the build thread for my 2008 X GSR. Thanks in advance for your interest!

Brief History

In 2011 I bought my first evo (VIII GSR) from a fellow member on here. It wasn’t in the greatest condition despite having only 45k miles on it. After spending some time and quite a bit of money nursing the car back to health and modding it in the process, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t want to spend half my time (and money) fixing someone else’s mistakes…so I sold my VIII and bought this X on 5/05/13 when it had 52k on the odometer.

At the time the car only had an exhaust, intake, short shifter, and upgraded clutch, which appealed to me, as I wasn’t too fond of the idea of buying someone else’s elaborate project. After a couple thousand miles of driving the clutch (Spec 3+) that was on the car was slipping so I brought it to English Racing to have them install a Comp clutch stage 2 un-sprung street series. As luck would have it, the previous owner had fooled around with the transmission and made a mess of things in the process. After replacing the input shaft bearings and Rev/5th gear syncros, I got the car back from English Racing. It was then time to start moving forward with my build!


Goals

I currently DD my X and as such the car must be reliable and have some street manners. However, I am extremely fond of road courses, and the primary reason I bought an evo to begin with was to be able to take it to the track and have some fun with it! Furthermore, I'm building the car primarily for HPDE and maybe SCCA down the road.

Final note
The build will take some time to be completed. As much as I wish I did, I simply do not have the time or the finances to put everything together all at once. That said, I will be updating this thread as I go. Any feedback is welcome, and I will do my best to answer any questions along the way.

As of the most recent tune (November '13) she put down 386whp and 350lb-ft on the stock turbo using Shell 92 octane pump gas.



Those numbers were achieved with the following parts:
ETS 4.0'' fmic
ETS UICP
ETS intake
ETS o2 dump downpipe
Invidia n1 cbe w/ test pipe
Grimmspeed 3-port ebc
Walbro 255lph

I will be heading back to English Racing sometime in the next couple of months to have Aaron re-tune the car with the addition of an ETS exhaust manifold (1.9'' runners),Tial QR, and possibly the Turbosmart 22psi internal wastegate actuator. I am hopeful that the addition of those will allow me to break 400whp on the stock turbo and pump gas
