2014 Evo X GSR

Phantom Black, Sight and Sound, clean title, stock

Bought in May '14 @ 1331 miles
SOLD 1/18

While on deployment I was searching for an Evo X, Found a "used" one with 1331 miles. After a few emails I went to go see it a few weeks later after I got back stateside. IIRC Carfax said it was bought in Feb '14 and then sold to dealership in April '14. It was not a very fun experience with the dealership but it was too good of a price to pass up but anyways...

UICP, LICP, Intake, BOV, Lowering Springs

About a month after I bought it I rotated back into theater and did some reading and online parts window browsing. Rotated back into the states and started buying parts...

Cobb Accessport V3
Cobb XLE BOV
Eibach Springs
Injen Intake and UICP
AMS LICP
AMS Fuel Pressure Regulator Kit
AEM 320lph Fuel Pump
Grimmspeed 3-port
ETS 3.5" Intercooler
FP Wastegate Actuator w/ 18psi spring
Perrin 2" Shorty

And parts start coming in...

I actually had the Accessport for a week or so before the other stuff so I had some time to mess with it.

After roughly 4,200 miles, it's time to get to work.

Stock engine bay.

First up is the BOV, intake, and UICP

OEM BOV/Diverter

Cobb XLE BOV

Injen Intake and UICP

UICP, Intake and BOV and hose removed

Installed Cobb XLE BOV and Injen Intake and UICP 9/12

Then the Eibach Springs went on (9/12). Advertised for a F/R drop of 1.2"/1.0" - No Pics of install because the car was pretty dirty and I was going to wash it once it was all done and I got some time (today).

Saturday, 9/13 I got the Perrin 2" shorty

Size comparrison

Before

After

The next Monday I got the AMS LICP and FP Wastegate Actuator

Bumper off

AMS LICP Installed 9/15

Bumper back on and now no more hoses for the intercooler piping...

I am a little dissapointed the UICP isn't a "complete" UICP. The pipe from the top of the intercooler to where is bends to come up and twards the rear of the car remains OEM and looks like a smaller diameter. May replace later on.

I got the wastegate actuator off and the FP on but had some over boosting issues and decided to hold off until tuning. With the same map (Stage 1 93 v403 with adjustments for my Injen intake) and the FP wastegate on I was getting 27-28 psi and 3 and 4 counts of knock and one time hit 29.61 psi @4363 rpm but with only 1 on the knock count haha. I switched to the LWG map with the same adjustments for the intake and first pull I got what I expected, 25psi taper to 19-20psi. But the 2nd pull is when I got the 29.61 smh... I was in contact with Cobb throughout the day and they said their OTS maps are for the OEM actuator only and suggested switching back until tuning, so I switched back for now.

I'm still waiting on the ETS intercooler but I wasn't going to instal until later when I can get it tuned along with the 3 port, fuel pump, pressure regulator, and now wastegate actuator and whatever I buy on this deployment. I'm trying kinda hard to find a Perrin dual exhaust but it is now discontiuned and everyone that advertises it says they have it online but when you ask they're out. Going to look more while I wait for the Invidia downpipe/test pipe to come back into stock. I'm headed out to deploy again in a few weeks so it looks like this is as far as it will get for until I learn the Accestuner Race program.

I read up about the Fuel Pump Relay being a POS so I already ordered a MR122409, should be here in a few days.

I am now running the Stage 1 93 v403 OTS map with the adjustments made for my Injen Intake. Without the wastegate actuator on I'm peak boosting at almost 25 psi. and tapering to 20psi at 5930 rpm and 17.5 psi at 7200 rpm. I did take the OEM wastegate actuator in 3 1/2 turn instead of just 3.

Also, on Monday I got some Redline MT90 and MTL for the "Redline Cocktail" for the transmission. And Mitsubishi LSD oil for the transfer case and rear differential, from what I read this is replacing Diaqueen for the OEM choice? I thought about getting Redline or something else but got this for now.

Here's pics of the "what's in the box" of the Grimmspeed 3 port, AEM Fuel Pump, and AMS Fuel Pressure Regulator

I am confused about this one. I ordered an AMS Fuel pressure regulator kit and got this.. Sending email about it tomorrow

I tried taking the actuator arm in another 1/2 turn. Went out and drove some errands and did a 3rd gear pull on my way home. I peaked a little bit higher (25.35psi) but didn't hold it nearly as long. Looking back at the run before I peaked 24.92psi @ 3613, held +24 psi for almost 900 rpm but with the extra half turn I only held +24 psi for only 200 rpm. So in the morning it will come back out 1/2 a turn again.

---------------

Finally got a tracking # on the Intercooler. Looking like Monday.

So I ordered some more parts today.

- ETS Catback V2
- ETS Test Pipe
- AMS 3" Widemouth Downpipe + o2 bung
- AEM UEGO (not sure where to mount tho..)

Guy said I can expect it Tuesday-Thursday. I hope so, leaving for deployment soon and I'd like to hit the mountain before I leave.

Sent Cobb an email asking if I can run their OTS Stage 3 map if I use a Grimmspeed 3 port instead of Cobb. Here is his reply in case anyone else was curious:

"The OTS map is designed specifically for the COBB 3-port. We use a mac solenoid for out 3-ports and grimspeed does as well, but they are different resolutions/response rates. Some customers claim they have successfully used Stage 3 mapping with a grimspeed, but we have not tested it and it is not recommended. If you do decide to try it, you will need to keep a close eye on boost pressure to make sure that you do not see extreme values. "

So yes and no. I'll do some studying on tuning with Accesstuner Race while deployed.

Intercooler/Exhaust/DP/TP

I got the last of the parts I had on order for now in on Friday. I left home on Sun for deployment so I had just enough time to get it on and drive it for a little bit.. now it's sitting in the garage all lonely and such...

9/26 @ 4800 miles
Installed:

- AMS 3" widemouth DP
- ETS TP
- ETS V2 Catback
- ETS intercooler (3.5")
- AEM UEGO

- Flashed a Stage 2 93 V403 w Injen intake map

ETS intercooler vs OEM:
Before you go telling me I don't need to upgrade the intercooler cause I'm still using the stock turbo, I know that already. But the turbo will be pulled out soon enough so I went ahead and threw the intercooler in...

Installed:

ETS V2 Catback and TP:
Again, I was pressing on time so there's no pics/videos after install. Sorry it got too dark. Before/After when I come back.

AMS Widemouth DP vs OEM:
This was a pain in the ***. I didn't have a 14mm swivel socket so I had to wait till Advanced opened to go buy one. Once I had that it really wasn't thaaattt bad... sorry, no pics after install.

so sexy..

AEM UEGO:
I just put the sensor in the DP. I didn't get a chance to run the rest of the wires or run it to the Accesport.

No pics..
