WeiRdGuyXP - 2012 MR - GG - Streetable HPDE and all around fun build
Hello everyone,
I bought my 2012 MR in April of 2015 and started things off slow. I had heard of SST overheat issues and purchased a AMS SST cooler right off away. I also discovered first hand how thin the paint was and picked up a set of RallyArmor mudflaps. I then also picked up an AMS STX300 tune via an accessport, given it was so easy to do and at the time I didn't really have the time to work through a full open source etune. I also had some Bridgestone RE11 tires left over from my Caliber SRT4 that fit, so i put those on (car came with snow tires, which are now on GSR rims I got used). Over the course of 2015 I hit the drag strip (not final tune setup) and ran 13.2 @99.9 and had a blast on the road course @ Milville NJ. Videos and phots in post below.
Fast forward to 2016, after more reading on the forums and generally understanding my options better, I put together a 3 year plan of where I want to go with the car.
Year 1:
Suspension, gauges, exhaust, and some performance basics with an open source etune.
Specifically I went with:
-Used recently rebuilt Robispec KW Clubsports coilovers (8k/9k)
-BC rear adjusters with 4x KW knobs to make the coilovers easier to adjust
-White line front and rear sway bars
-torque solutions motor/trans mounts
-grimspeed 3 port boost controller
-aem X series air fuel gauge
-aem boost gauge
-aem oil pressure gauge (with AMS remote adapter)
-aeroforce interceptor scan gauge (we swore by these things in the caliber world)
-rexspeed double a pillar gauge pod
-Ortiz dual cluster gauge pod
-ETS highflow cat with wideband bung
-Corsa catback exhaust
-ETS rear upper intercooler pipe
-ETS intake
-CBRD intercooler
-Tractrix cable and associated software for tuning
-SSP billet heated SST sump
-SSP lifetime stainless SST filter
-Speedcircuit A.S.S. module (beta tester)
-ST43 pads for track days
-Titanium braking shims for track days
-DrivenFab air oil separator
So with the mod purchases out of the way I had to find a tuner, I settled on Chet and look forward to working with him on getting setup on 93 octane.
I'm taking off work the first week of April to get everything listed above installed. Then I have a month to lock in the tune, then I hit Pocono for some HPDE fun in early May with the SCCA.
I'll post up more pics and info as I work through the parts installs.
Future plans gave been broken out below:
Year 2:
-CBRD efr7163 RBX twinscroll kit
-ID 1000s injectors
-DW65c fuel pump
Year 3:
-RPF1 18x9.5 +15
-Fender Roll
-Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s 265/35/r18
-Apr splitter
-Apr gtc300 wing
-vortex generator
-yet to be determined side skirts
-any other visual mods
I'd love to capture everyone's feedback, both on my current plans as well as future plans. Please let me know your thoughts.
I'd also like to shout out to Hispanic Panic, Chad @ CBRD, Dino @ Speedcircuit, and Adam @ Map for help putting all this together, and last but not least Chet for all his tuning help.
