So word back from the shop is they want 1500 miles on the new engine before tuning. They want 2 oil changes in that time. They said they just want it to make sure everything is good to go before we beat on it. I guess it makes since but who knows it's their motor I'll do what they tell me.

With mine, they did a lower power break in tune on the dyno, then I took it for a couple of weeks on break in oil, drove it alot to break in the motor put new break in oil in ran that for a week, then put my fresh good oil in and took it back for a full tune on the dyno

Yeah thats exactly what they want to do with me. But the problem is for me getting the time off work to go back to get a full tune. I make the 3 or 4 hr trip out there to get the car and bring it home and getting back is going to be the hard part being race season is upon us and thats our busiest time of year where no one gets time off. What oil did they give you to break in your motor? I am guessing they want me to do oil change at 500 miles and at 1500 miles and then bring it back to tune.

I know they said they will use Valvoline vr1 20-50 but that seems to be overkill I guess on break in oil. I do not care for that oil I normally run Schaeffers 7000 synthetic oil. I emailed them asking them what oil do I need to pick up and what oil are they going to use and I haven't gotten a response yet.

Honestly thats what I was thinking they would use but I am not sure. Me personally I would have put my Schaeffers in ran it around the block and put it on the dyno. I am not a big fan of Brad Penn oil. I mean it is good stuff but there is so much better stuff out there. I would run it for break in oil though.

That is like asking me why I don't run Kiggly springs in my car. Answer because there are way better springs out there that wont crap out on you. Pac springs blow fyi. I say that not just because they are my competitor at work but because my company does testing lol. I will put a Psi spring against any Pac spring all day long. I choose a better, a much better oil in my opinion to run in my car especially with all the cash i've dumped into it. Plus I wanted to run fully synthetic not half *** synthetic. Here is some info for you.


Brad penn oil roughly has 1,500 ppm Zinc and 1340-1400 ppm Phosphorus and has been tested with much lower #s then it has been claimed zinc was like 1100 to 1200 in one test I saw.

Schaeffers oil has 1645 ppm of Zinc and I can't find the exact ppm but Phosphorus is in the 13% range.
