2003 Acura RSX Type-S for sale in Minneapolis

I just let her go for $12,500 to a lucky young man here in the Twin Cities.

I bought this car brand new in May 2003 and have had a wonderful time with it, but I just moved up in the world (yep, bought an Evo) so the RSX needs a new home. 81K mostly highway miles. Yes, I love to drive this car a LOT. She has been meticulously maintained and tastefully upgraded. The condition inside and out is excellent. Desert Silver Metallic with Titanium interior. Full Acura dealer service history. This car has never been “launched” or taken to a drag strip. Always adult driven (I’m 43). I am totally honest about this car, so let me explain that I am an instructor for high performance driving schools, BMW and Audi Club among others. My RSX has seen sweet sweet time on the track, probably a total of 25 days, with an average of two hours of track time per day, usually with another instructor or student riding along. I have very carefully maintained this car because at the track my life depends on it! I have never spun out or crashed. The brake pads and rotors (big wear items at the track) have been replaced and the current ones are almost new. I used a separate set of wheels and tires for the track, so the tires currently on the car have never seen track time. Please note that this sale comes with TWO sets of wheels and tires, one for summer and one for winter, as listed below. She truly is in excellent mechanical and aesthetic condition with the following exceptions:
- There are two 1-inch holes in the carpet under the pedals. They can be covered by the original OEM “RSX Type-S” floor mats which are BRAND NEW.
- If you look closely you will see a couple small scratches, rock chips, and door dings, typical for a 3-year-old car.
- The check engine light stays on because I did not install an O2 sim for the aftermarket catalytic converter. I have checked the codes several times to verify that it is only the O2 sensor.
- The leather seats have the normal creases that come with age, but no tears.
- The aftermarket exhaust is rather loud, but the buyer will receive the OEM exhaust as well, along with all the other OEM parts to reinstall if desired.
- The right fog light lens is cracked. The light works fine and I have placed clear tape over the lens to seal out moisture.
- The original owners manual was stolen when the car was left unlocked at a car show. The dealer gave me a replacement, but it says “2002 RSX Type-S”. Checking the VIN will confirm that this car is actually a 2003.
- The CarFax report (below) shows the police report I filed in August 2003 when somebody in a Target parking lot scratched the front bumper of my then-three-month-old treasure in a “hit and run”. I was so mad that my new baby had been scratched, I called the police. The scratch was later professionally repaired. What the report doesn’t show but I will voluntarily explain is that this car has had its rear bumper replaced twice (at a luxury car body shop with brand new OEM parts) due to two minor accidents. The frame is fine and has always been straight. I’m not sure why the CarFax report stops after 24,364 miles. The odometer currently reads 80,889. If anybody has access to CarFax and gets a more complete report, please send it to me and I’ll post it here.

The following aftermarket performance modifications have been professionally installed:
- Comptech cold air intake
- Hondata 4 ECU reprogram (VTEC engages at 5000rpm and rev limiter set at 8600rpm)
- Jackson Racing exhaust header
- Random Tech free-flow catalytic converter
- DC Sports cat-back exhaust
- Above mods added 24hp at the wheels (pulled 159 before, 183 after), which means engine is now producing about 230hp.
- H&R Sport Springs front and rear (1.5” drop)
- Ingalls front camber bolts (1.5 degree negative)
- MPower rear camber links (1.0 degree negative)
- Hotchkis Competition front and rear sway bars with heavy duty end links
- Buyer will receive TWO SETS of wheels and tires:
- ATS Complite gunmetal 17x7.5 wheels (15 lbs. each) with tuner lug nuts and key, wearing BFGoodrich G-Force Sport 225/45/17 high performance summer only tires (new Aug 06)
- OEM 16x6.5 wheels with one locking lug nut per wheel, wearing Conti ExtremeContact 225/50/16 tires for winter
- Stainless steel brake lines all around
- 1-1/4” hitch installed (for bike or ski rack - never pulled a trailer)
- Power cord for Valentine One professionally hardwired into electrical system (detector not included)
- Optional dealer-installed OEM fog lights
- Optional OEM rubber cargo bed liner
- Optional OEM cargo net
- Optional OEM “RSX” winter (rubber) floor mats
