All i'm telling him is to stick to his guns and not let anyone talk him into something he's not comfortable doing. If he was comfortable doing that don't you think he would?

I'm just saying... I've heard of these deals happening. I think with the X coming out we'll see them more and more. Most probable would be a higher mileage stocker... but they happen none the less.

I really think these will make great rally cars when they get under 15k.

about 1.5 years ago i was offered a garage kept 05 RS with 17k miles on it for 20 grand or best offer. It came with a jdm evo 7 front bumper and hood, plus the original bumper/hood in mint condition. you can find one for 16k, but your going to have to be patient.

You know that in 2005 the RS had an MSRP of $26,000 or so right? so almost 20,000 miles and over a year later $20,000 bucks wasn't that big of a steal...

You can easily find an Evo for that. Ebay had a 2006 IX, clean title, like 15k miles, end for 18k the other day... People on Evom think their cars keep their value when a new one (the X) comes out... they dont. that is why no one is buying here anymore.

You can find one for that much. People's eyes light up when you say the word "Cash".

You can find them for $16k. But Evom isn't a good place to look, in general I think people tend to overprice their cars on here. Find an Evo owned by a non-enthusiast who isn't in so much love with their car and you should be able to get a good deal. I also find that buying from wealthier older people you can get better deals because the money isn't as important to them and they just want to move the car along. For example, I see Audis go for good deals because usually the owners are a little older and have more money. The problem with Evos are a lot of the owners are teens to early 20's that live at home and are try to get as much money as they possibly can out of them.

NEW YORK dood, that's NEW YORK.

When you put in price as a factor, you gotta put location as a factor too.

Yeah, and time for a new timing, balancing, and serpentine belt~ prolly new brakes soon, tires may be worn, not to even mention clutch... diffs are prolly worn out.

And it's not like I'm trying to sell the kid something~ I'm in the market for an Evo also, and I used to have an 03 that was beat down~ everything started coming apart at 65,000 miles and Evo stuff ain't cheap.

Location isn't always a factor for the buyer though. Like when I was looking for my RA. I would have flew to NY for one. They were literally impossible to get for about 5 months.

Although your post in quite informative and has good thought it has one major flaw.....

Wealthier older people don't buy Evo's.. An Evo has a target audience of 16 - 28 year olds.. (Ofcourse there are some of us outside of this age demographic but this is the target audience of the car)

A few years ago it used to be 25 - 33 year olds because of the higher cost and 30K premium for the car but lately the car is teeing around the 18k-22K for the 03 models which have made it much easier for teenager's to buy.

Sure I believe that there are good deals out there but as it stands 16K is still not where the car is at the moment.. That price is usually reserved for very high mileage or somewhat problematic Evo's.

Salvage Title Evo's sell for 10K.
