In regards to your question, I am not sure if you are asking if it can be done or are subliminally saying it is a no-no because a lot of owners stick with OEM. Check the threads on transfer case fluids and you'll see everything is fine. Amsoil outperforms everything else, based on hard data (PM Oil Doc), and based on the reviews here on EvoM.
