I think it was about similar price as yours. I think he had 6 speed tranny. I'm not 100% sure.
I think the cheapest "nice" paint job that I ever got was $3K, almost same as factory condition. I had my Spec Boxter painted orange (same orange as GT3 RS), and it was $3,800. It included painting the inside and the roll cage. See pic below.

if you're trying to get top of the line paintjobs then of course it'll cost you....
