I was in Japan for 3 years...you will not bring one back guaranteed. And please do not use government storage. Not only is depreciation a biatch, but they treat your car like the dog**** on your shoe. Check the mileage before and after...also check all your parts with your own pics before you leave and make them SIGN it. I had a newer Altima there that the wife HAD to have...needless to say horrific experience and the military does not care. Ps, you are allowed to bring one vehicle with you check with your relocation office and since US cars have such ridiculous standards its perfectly legal over there. They pay you for cost of living (its a good chunk) use that to double your car payment...pay her off quick. Also Japanese pay about double for US cars know what I mean? Good luck in the land of the rising sun...check out super autobacs for me and enjoy the JCI inspections
Pm me about the car...ill see what I can do.

THIS. I am leaving for Kadena AB in July but I am storing my X here. Mitsu has made it pretty clear that they might not be making Evos anymore, and in that case, we have a real piece of history, ya know? Yah, I won't have her for a couple of years, but when I get back I'll have a 2010 X with about 10k on her. Just something to think about.

bump! I would rather sell the car guys then store it, sorry I have no faith in the storage system where people have access to my car no thank you. plus I can buy land and stuff with the money i will be saving. I am paying $700 a month on my X and I would rather not keep paying it if I cant drive it

You can bring it, it just is a red tape nightmare. It cost like 2 grand to get registered thru the dmz. Ive seen Armada's and Corvette's over there, that was 2 years ago. Are they still letting you go over? The Navy has a hold on all orders going to Yokosuka and Atsugi (tokyo area). you might want to call personal property over at the base you are going, just to confirm that you cant bring it.
