update!:
EMAIL FROM ALTERNATOR SELLER:
Please let everyone know...
I am alive and well, however have been seriously busy with a re-organization at work, as well as buying/moving between houses (I'm currently in an efficiency apartment, awaiting closing on my new house). As well as all of this, I have finally been working on my neglected body, and have been going to the gym 4 times a week for 2 hours, and my neglected intelect by taking Japanese lessons 2 times a week at 3 hours each. Life I am sorry to say has been a bit full. It's now the norm for me to leave in the morning at 7am, and not return till 9-10pm. I have not had much time to sign on.
My beloved IX MR is sitting in a parking lot, completely filled with boxes, and the engine has not been turned over in over 3 months! Also a Tornado in Cocoa Beach threw a whole bunch of debris against the driver's side and left dents/dings/scratches on every pannel from the front bumper to the read JDM bumper. GRRR
Closing on my house will occur hopefully the week of the 17th, after that I should be back active and a part of the group the week of the 24th.
I have not signed on since the alternators started to show up from the group buy. I was expecting to be in my new house the first week of January, but the lending market took a turn and my first financing fell through... Because of this monster delay, I have yet to see how people reacted to their upgrades... could you please send me some kind of update?
Austin T
PS. If there is interest in another group buy, when I return I will arrange it.

nice work 'shot of boost'
can you please keep in touch with him..
We have quite a few people already for the GB...
I ideally would've liked to have this before next month since I'm doing a tune soon..
and with the alternator change, you will need a retune.

It still may be possible to have it before next month but if not I wouldn't worry. You could just Email your tuner a few logs and the adjustments could be made that way

Here's a quick run down just so you know what to expect:
remove your negative from battery, discharge system with your headlights on
Remove you strut brace (6 nuts, 2 bolts)
unbolt your fuel rail and shove it to the side (2 bolts, remove 1 vacuum line)
unbolt your dip-stick guide and push to the side (1 bolt)
Jack the car up
remove your accessory belt (remove tension with a 1/2" breaker bar, then slide belt off)
remove through bolt from rear engine mount
Lower car down.
remove charging wire (one nut)
remove alternator harness connection
remove top alternator bolt
remove lower alternator bolt and nut
This is the point where I am now, and I am 34 minutes into the process with taking pictures each step, but I have to quit and get ready for a date tonight... sorry guys
Next steps:
Jack rear of engine up (to give access up top)
slide alternator out the top side of the engine
slide new alternator into the engine and bolt into place
Lower engine down
Jack car up
remove tension from accessory belt tensioner and slide belt onto alternator
connect your new power and ground cables (tomorrow I will give specs as to size and length)
connect rear motor mount
Lower car down
replace oil dip stick
replace fuel rail
replace strut bar
connect ground wire to battery

The steps I listed above still stand, however let me add a few "tweaks"
Unbolt the AC line stay and the power steering line stay. Unclip the main engine harness and move it aside. This will give you enough room so you can wiggle the old alternator out and the new alternator in from the top.
Other than that, this is truely a 3 hour job for anyone that is decent with tools.

This is what he wrote to me
"Ok. Price is $339 total shipped for the 180 and $359 shipped for the 200 amp. This price is good for 30 days on your forum and they ship as soon as payment is made.
Thanks,Dom"
But those prices are higher than before. I asked him what the price would be if we have 10 committed people and he hasn't responded yet.
