FS (OR): Rare UK-spec Evo 9 Gauge Cluster!
SOLD!!
Selling a used UK-spec Evo 9 Gauge Cluster. I plugged it in to get the mileage & make sure it worked. Have not tried driving with it. The differences to the US version is 180MPH gauge, the cool "Mitsubishi Motors" logo, & "Evolution" instead of "Lancer". The bulbs for the odometer & "Evolution" logo appear to be burned out since they shine so dimly. In case you're wondering, the ACD warning light is on since my '03 doesn't have it. Asking $200 shipped/PP'd, OBO.
Info update: I give credit to Truespeed for finding the following info on how to convert this & any other KPH cluster to read in MPH. He found an outfit in the UK that sells wire-in signal convertors.

I took the following pic driving in 5th gear at ~2,100rpm. The cluster obviosly reads in KPH. I'm going roughly 46-47mph in that gear/rpm.
Regarding what it would take to convert from KPH to MPH, I'm not entirely sure. I highly doubt the answer lies in the ECU though. I simply swapped my stock cluster for this one & the readout changed - I'm still using the same ECU. For the answer to lie in the ECU, the speed signal would have to travel from the transmission through the ECU to the cluster, where it goes oh, this one is UK spec, so back to the ECU to get converted to KPH, then back to the cluster to display the speed in KPH. Doesn't seem likely. I would guess it's something on the cluster that is altering the signal. I haven't checked, but that might be something a speedometer service shop might be able to modify. There's a fair number of vehicles that get brought here from Canada & have a conversion performed somehow.

The speed sensor definitely doesn't translate the speedo information correctly. There's a thread about the "Ralliart" gauge cluster around somewhere where people were searching for a solution. I never kept up with it, but last I heard... they had found the software for it in the ECU, so it was just a matter of enabling the programing.
Still pretty rare/interesting.
