F/S: AST 5300 series triple-adjustable coilovers w external reservoirs
*** EDIT: SOLD! ***
AST-USA is not the most well-known damper manufacturer (yet), but IMO they are in the same class as Ohlins, Moton, Penske, JRZ RS, etc. Head and shoulders beyond Bilstein monotubes.

AST 5300 dampers feature:
» High end, track ready suspension that is totally streetable
» Rebound, Low & Hi Speed Compression Adjustable ("Triples"), w/ a remote reservoir
» Remote reservoirs allow additional travel and heat dissipation
» Beefy 44.5mm (1.75") diameter shaft struts, Inverted
» Aluminum cylinder, threaded body shocks, factory mounting style
» Reservoir with hose
» Spherical upper shock mount assemblies
» Synthetic hydraulic fluid
"AST coilovers are monotube, high pressure nitrogen shock absorbers. Why do you care? Most other products on the market are twin tube designs and are not pressurized, or only have 1-2 atmospheres of Nitrogen in a little bag inside. Monotube shocks offer the biggest pistons for more control. High Nitrogen gas pressurization in Monotubes (8-12 atmospheres) means the oil will never cavitate around the piston. This is particularly important in environments where the vehicle makes rapid changes in direction such as autocross and road racing.
"Monotubes also allow for a wider damping range and can more easily provide a better ride with stiffer spring rates - we usually start with 3X the stock rates and often go to 6-7X the stock spring rates, even on street driven cars. This is the same technology used on $7,000-10,000 shocks packaged here in a competitively priced kit."
These triple adjustable external reservoir shocks are the ones that my co-driver Chris Mayfield used to win the Street Modified Solo National Championship in September 2010 against some of the best and most well-prepared competition in the country (including several other Evos).
They were purchased new and installed on the car and used for approximately seven months. As this car was used almost exclusively last year as an autocross race car, and trailered to events, there are very few miles on these dampers. My car has not been running since November 2010 (it's been garaged this entire time).
If your Evo is a dual-duty street/track car, know that the quality of damping the ASTs provide give you an incredibly plush ride, even with really stiff springs. My Evo rode significantly smoother and more comfortably with the ASTs and 800/1000# springs than with the previous entry-level Megan coilovers with only 478/550# spring rates (same ride height).
These AST 5300s include the optional rear mounts... everything you see in the pics, except the car they're bolted to.
The springs currently installed on these dampers are 800#/in. F (H&R) and 1000#/in. R (Hyperco). As you can see in the pics, there are helper springs in the rear as well.

- that back in 2009, a killer deal on a set of AST-USA 5100 coilovers (only single adjustable, not remote reservoir) was $2900.
Vorshlag currently sells the AST 5100 coilovers for $2799, plus $379 for front camber plates, plus $279 for rear mounts, plus $100 (x 2) for front and rear springs (total = $3657). Again, this is for just the 5100 series AST coilovers, NOT the 5200 doubles or 5300 triples.
This custom three-way adjustable damper set would cost $6158 + shipping to duplicate/acquire new via AST/Vorshlag... and that's WITHOUT any springs. Also, keep in mind that there is currently a 4–8 week wait time for the 5300 series AST shocks to be built/delivered from the Netherlands; they are not stocked in the United States.
The price you can buy these from me for will depend on whether you want the springs or not, but rest assured it will be an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime deal.
*** EDIT: SOLD! ***
These race dampers are used, so the reservoirs and shock housings do show some minor scratches and wear. Overall, however, they are in excellent, very lightly used condition. No leaks, no stripped fasteners, etc.
I am willing to ship of course, and I'm very competent at properly packaging and protecting heavy and very valuable car parts. I will ship via FedEx ground, and the rate you'll pay is whatever fedex.com quotes me for the exact weight and size of the box, with the insurance value you request, and to your zip code.
