The S2 Cams require upgraded valve springs (check out GSC’s Chro-Molly Retainers and single valve spring kit for a perfect upgrade to your valve train). Designed for a rev range of 4000-9000 RPMS(2.0L or 3000-8000 2.2L+), 550-900whp applications. Not suggested for smaller stock appearing turbo setups. S2 cams can run on Factory ECU with custom flashing

HUM? If their 272's REQUIRE springs and retainers, wouldnt you think that the larger (+.3 lift intake, +.5 lift exhaust) 290's would to? Before you spout of at the mouth, do a lil research. Oh, GSC doesnt have 280's. Just S1- 268, S2- 272, S3-290. The 290 is a custom grind. I do not know about eh HKS's cams tho.
"With the launching of our Evo 9 cams gave us the opportunity to dig back into the Evo 8 duration and lift bin. sooo what did we do we brought out a new set of sticks for all to play with.. These are big boys. so I would suggest them for aftermarket turbo’s with 2.3’s and 2.0s with high reving capabilities. You can keep stock valve train on these anything north of 8k rpms please install springs and retainers.
Thanks to Doug at TopSpeed for doing this test for us. Another un biased test.
These will be available first of next week for shipping.
Same dyno, same car, same day.
2.3, Built head, GT35R at 21psi. both of the runs are tuned. AEM EMS for the tuning and im sure Doug can speak the rest.
Run Number 6 is the HKS 280 in Blue
Run Number 9 is our GSC 280 in Red."
HKS 280's and GSC 280's will work with stock valve train. To the OP the GSC's picked up about 50whp over the HKS'. Link for OP https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...80+stock+valve
