FS: 03 Evo 8 5 speed tranny, for parts or rebuild. $400 shipped!
I have a transmission for sale. It can be either used for parts or rebuild. I have taken it apart and inspected the gears. It needs the following parts
1) Front bell housing. Mitsu part number MD749639. The one that came with this trans has an entire chunk missing. Many places such as shep or tre would have used ones laying around (when did my trans, tre sold me a used one for $100)
2) 4th gear on the input shaft. MD771717. The gear is not broken, but the engagement teeth are worn down. This was from a worn out 4th gear syncro.
3) 3rd/4th shift sleeve. MD748591. obviously worn down from the 4th gear grind
4) 3rd gear syncro. MD770348
5) 4th gear syncro. MD748058
From the visual inspection, almost all the gears on the output shaft (1st, 2nd, 5th, reverse) seem to be in excellent shape. The final drive is in excellent shape as well. I can also sell certain parts of this transmission separately. For example, if a person is experiencing 5th gear grind, then I can sell them the entire output shaft. Taking apart the trans and swapping out shafts is VERY VERY simple. Looking to get around $400 shipped through ups ground. I will be taking offers, so PM me your best one. places like shep and tre charge $800 for the TSB rebuild, which include replacement of all syncro's and sleeves and some internal modifications. the TSB rebuild would include parts 3, 4 and 5. the front bell housing is about $300 and 4th gear is about $100 from the dealer. this will be great for a person who doesn't want downtime in a rebuilt trans.
