FS: TRE Upgraded Non-ACD transfer case with LSD; still in TRE box
SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD
I have a spare non-ACD transfer case which I sent to TRE for inspection, and installation of their upgrades.
It has the helical LSD.
It also has the TRE transfer case upgrade work performed, including the larger bolts, etc.
It is still in the sealed TRE box, since I've not needed it as a spare.
SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD
Thanks for reading.

The transfer case has NO ACD. It has the Helical factory LSD. It was inspected, cleaned, and upgraded by TRE at a cost of $450, plus shipping.

Here's the TRE description:
TRANSFER CASE TUNE-UP SERVICE
One thing that we commonly see wrong with the Mitsubishi Evolution transfer case is that the preloads of the bearings are not adjusted for high torque applications. The bearings that support the ring & pinion are usually set way too loose to hold the gears in proper alignment with one another and when the ring & pinion is loaded to the nuts with torque, during a mad launch, the contact or mesh zone moves towards the heal of the ring gear and up above center which putting way too much force on the teeth where it shouldn't be making contact. Eventually this strain will cause the teeth on the ring gear to yield and crack. This can be avoided by having the transfer case bearing preloads adjusted correctly and by adjustment of the ring & pinion mesh zone. The ring gear is carefully shot peened which increases the durability of the gear and the side cover bolts are upgraded to the larger M10 bolts because M8 bolts are just too small.
This service includes:
Magnaflux inspection of the ring & pinion gears
Magnaflux inspection of the front diff housing
Magnaflux inspection of the front diff gearset
Detail work to the ring & pinion
Detail work to the front diff housing
Shot peening of the ring gear
Shot peening of the limited slip outer housing *
Larger M10 bolt kit
Seal kit
Neodymium magnet
Mesh zone of the ring & pinion and bearing preloads are adjusted for high torque applications.
That's what's been done.
I can take pictures of the TRE box, which is still sealed. The work was completed last August (2009).
