pretty much what happens while tuning and doing all of your timing fuel etc etc. you're tuning the vehicle in open loop. so while tuning you're looking at everything on the computer in real time. when you set the fuel map on the computer you're saying this is where it needs to be right now at this specific time....so at idle i want 14.7 at wot i want 11.0. once you're done you turn the o2 sensor into a closed loop. now the ecu is reading off of ait map maf etc sensor to make minor adjustments to your fuel map during your daily driving. so here for instance (in alaska) winter weather is way different than summer. instead of 60-80 degrees it's 5-25 degrees. that's a big temp drop. air density changes as well. the o2 sensor input won't read the changes properly with the other sensors and adjust the fuel map accordingly. so it's pretty much once you have your fuel map set.... it's staying there.

like i said there's nothing else wrong with the ecu. it works fine and if i was somewhere where the weather wasn't so up and down i'ld use it but for what it is i won't be able to use it without having a map for each season. main reason why it's priced so low because i figured only someone specifically looking for an ecu for something not being driven all the time or special purposes would probably be more interested in this.
