Failed in less than 24 hours

(2003 Mitsubishi Evo) Installed the part and from the jump the ECU had trouble re-learning the idle. Performed the ECU re-learn 3 times, nothing. Tried adjusting the idle on the idle screw, nothing. Hoped with some mileage the idle will stabilize. Less than 24 hours later while driving in NYC traffic, the car just completely cuts off. Car will start but stall because the IAC won't hold the idle. After pushing the car out of the street by myself, I thankfully had the old OEM unit that won't cold start but will idle and popped it in and was able to drive home. This unit stunk of burnt electronics and was very hot to the touch. Bit the bullet and ordered the OEM Mitsubishi part at 3 times the cost and the car relearned the idle instantly and haven't had an issue since. (Experience level: technician) Maybe I was unlucky with a defective unit but I don't want to risk being caught in the same predicament. I'd of contacted the seller for a replacement or a refund but was so aggravated by the whole ordeal I didn't want to waste my time. Picture shows the original Evo 8 unit, this unit and the new OEM Mitsubishi unit.

This item didn't work reliably for me in my Evo 9. After trying everything else, Amazon, eBay, etc. I finally dropped the $325.00 for the real thing from Street Tuned Motorsports in New York. All my idle problems went away.'
