Daily Driver to Future Track Car (WW IX)

Also picked up a few non-car parts. HKS tee, lancer evolution magazine and the super cool MCR shirt. If anyone has ever seen the touge battles from hot versions, you know the MCR GTR is a beast (also has a great reputation on the Wangan). So obviously I had to pick one up lol

The body work is underway!
A quarter sized patch of rust getting repaired on the driver size.
Another area getting fixed, good ole Wisconsin winters starting to take a toll.
The passenger side needs a bit of attention as well. Good thing this evo will never see another winter.
JDM rear getting test fitted.
There should be color down this weekend! stay tuned

Its been a little bit since I updated this thread. Long story short my friend doing the body work injured his arm and we had to put the evo on hold a little bit. But this weekend some progress was made. We are hoping to have the car done in a few weeks.
Wisconsin really does a number on daily driven evos. I'm so happy this evo will never see winter again. (well maybe for some fresh snow flat spins, thats it lol). The world is just a little bit brighter with a rust-free car.
This metal is getting replaced.
This is some of the work started this weekend, got the rear fixed and primed. The quarter is next.

Hey everyone, its been a minute. My buddy doing the work on the car finally recovered from his arm injury and started making progress on the evo. The body work is all done. I have some shots below of the work that was done. The evo is now rust free! and will never see a wisconsin winter again!
Currently the car has the transmission out and is getting the new clutch installed, and a few other suspension mods. And dont get me wrong I am completely capable of doing all the work myself (besides body work), but as i get older I find I just do not have the time to do an evo 9 clutch on the garage floor lol. That way i can leave the fun power mods for myself haha.
In all seriousness here is the timeline I hope to be on for the next few months.
- Getting the car back in ~2 weeks with a new clutch and some other mods I will go over once i have it back.
- I have even more parts to install myself once its back. I hope to get that done and documented before everyone starts pulling their cars out of storage in spring.
- Late spring I hope to get the car tuned and enjoy it all summer.
The rust was cut out and this patch panel was cut from a junk rx8 rear quarter.
tacked in place.
The inside of the fixed quarter.
Getting the area ready for paint.
The passenger side quarter was starting to get surface rust on the inside and from where the rear quarter was rolled. So that got sanded away and resprayed as well.
These notorious ct9a rust spots behind the rear crash beam mounting locations has been fixed as well.
The JDM rear with the white applied. It still need the other half to be painted essien grey.
Also not pictured is the front fascia that was sanded and resprayed.
Stay posted, I plan to have more frequent updates on the progress now that the car is almost back in my possession.

I found a few old picture of the quarter panel when I first noticed the rust, and what It looked like 6 months after that. Feels really good to have this car rust free, and it will never see a salted road again!
This is what the rust started as when I first noticed it.
Another shot of when I first noticed it.
This is 6 months later, after daily driving the car in an Wisconsin winter.
Salted roads, really take a toll on these cars. :/
And fixed with new metal

Correct, well, at least i'm not modifying the USDM bumper support to fit. The plan was to just get the OEM JDM parts (jdm plate bracket and such). And correct me if i'm wrong but the JDM evos did not come with a crash beam from what I remember.
In reality I will probably get the STM rear bumper support and find a way to attach the USDM license plate lights.
