Why do the mods remove posts?

I understand why the mods would take out a lot of cussing or personal attacks, but why take out every little thing? My case: I commented on someone's poor spelling in my response to the thread. Why take that out? The mods get a little out of hand here sometimes...

BTW, you aren't special, you just mod on a website. Keep perspective.

I think your best bet if you have a complaint with a mod in a particular forum deleting posts is to PM them and ask them why. Feel free to send me a copy too if you'd like, though I know in this particular case it was not me. If the only content of the post was off topc (i.e. you said nothing other than the spelling thing) then it's pretty much their judgement. If it has pertinent info then you should definitely bring it up with the mod, and if a resolution cannot be met, take it up a tier.

We can't please everybody, but we do try to keep as clean a site as we can without pissing everybody off.

I don't know who took it off. At least make it an edit with the mod's name. It's not that big of a deal, but it sucks when it's a "forum" and you are being monitored for simple things. BTW, spelling is something that bothers me. I guess if I was a mod, I'd have to remove 90% of the posts here, huh?

Spelling bothers me too. You may see me edit my posts 4-5 times just to pull typoes I hadn't caught before. Not to mention my comments on other peoples' posts. However I almost never pull posts due to spelling/grammar. For the most part neither do the other mods (so far as I'm aware). Again though, if the only comment in the post was about the spelling and had nothing to do with the topic, that'd probably explain it. I never saw the post so I can't really comment beyond that at the moment.

That would be me. It was mainly your OT comment. I forgot how it was exactly written, but it was somewhere along the lines of you commenting on the thread being spelled "Tommaro" instead of "Tomorrow." I felt it's not really helping out the topic at all, just criticizing it. Nothing to big of a deal.

Personally the #1 posts that I hate to see is posts like these: " " One smilie posts. But yea anyway it was typically that comment you made that ultimately led to that particular posts demise.

We do these type of things to keep the thread and it's posts related to the topic as much as possible. You don't want OT comments on a Tech thread or any other thread that is on topic, then suddenly this happens: "Hey I ran over a cat the other day." Next post: "Oh really?" Next post: "Yep. That cat was dead, blood all pouring out of it's eyes. But anyway how are you?!" Next post: "I'm doing fine." Just to give you some examples. Threads such as those tend to end up in Off-Topic or just have it's OT posts deleted.

Repeating what Andrew said earlier. "We can't please everybody, but we do try to keep as clean a site as we can without pissing everybody off."

Just keep in mind we do these things for the sake of the thread, and not to **** off everybody.

BTW about just leaving the mods name on that edited post, I don't agree on that. It just clutters the thread up overall. What if it was multiple OT non-related to the topic posts? I wouldn't want to go through every damn post just to put my name on them.

Well the mods are back at it again. Removing stuff - for no apparent reason this time. I had to re-post instructions for a guy and then reminded him to read all the posts. Guess what? Disappeared... Between that and the continuous smart-*** comments (of which I have been guilty before), this is getting a little tiresome.

Here is a good Example of why the do what they do... I posted this topic to find out about The scene where i am moving to and now it has become a post about dealerships and new evos.

Not that i really care that this happened but i would have like to be OT and really know more about the local car scene rather than who was getting a deal on their new evo..

Here is the thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=35213

Like i said before i really dont care because if these guys get evos i will have some peeps to chill with..

The forum that particular thread is in is known to be off topic. It's kinda like a second Off-Topic forum. Why do you think the post count was removed for the Regional Forums? If you see most of the posts in the Regional Forums, it's all about getting to know each other, so to speak. It's alright to get to know somebody in there, that's completely understandable. If you have something to say in there or any other thread say it. If we see something wrong then we'll have to do something about it. If not, then it's okay. We make mistakes too, of course we ARE human.

Plus we didn't say anything forbidding you to go OT. Repeating what I said, we do these things for the sake of the thread and not to **** off everybody. We can't please everybody. So feel free to comment on that thread as much as you like.

Oh I know I expected that.. Just was showing how a post can go off topic and i would have to search to see if anyone actually answers my questions.... But Again I DONT CARE.. this is one of the best boards I have EVER been on... I have fun just BSing with people in the non "on topic" parts of the fourms

EDIT: I was just trying to show this guy that there is not a reason to be mad at a mod for deleting a post too keep things in order.. Just tryin to back you all up... Not to make it seem like i was complainin about OT posts. Some OT posts are the funniest part of this board

"This guy" isn't mad - it's just that I am trying to follow the flow of a thread and it screws up the rotation when I look for a response to something I or someone else posted. Like I said before, it's not important, just annoying.

Hey Chris.....wasn't me. I only delete whole posts if a person is being completely OT or if they are berading other members.

But posting up things like, "BTW, you aren't special, you just mod on a website. Keep perspective." won't help your situation. Comments like that are inflammatory, OT and unnecessary with regards to the point you are trying to make. Thats the kind of stuff that some mods will go in and delete. If it was removed, your post would contain the same argument....Just without the inflammatory "flame bait" comment.
