Car Of The Month!
#47
Knowing how things usually work, if we* pick an Evo X, the VIII/IX guys will ***** that the X isn't a real Evo, the Ralliart guys will ***** that the Evo guys don't respect them, and the Lancer guys will ***** about how much their cars don't suck and should get recognition... and when we* pick a Ralliart, the Evo guys will ***** that it's a poser Evo, and the Lancer guys will still be *****ing about how much their cars don't suck and should get recognition... and when we* finally pick a Lancer, everyone will point out that it's a 14 second car with some bolt-ons and a fancy paint job.

I say don't do this. On ClubRSX, it is nothing but a popularity contest and tends to bring a lot of flaming (though I know CRSX has a different demographic lol). Not to mention, like someone already said, boosted and powerful RSX's have lost to mildly modded ones, just because they have mad tyte JDM parts.

+1 nothing but a arguing battle I see happening..

Huh, yeah I remember the lancerforums days...
Maybe each month or quarter could be dedicated to a group of cars, so you know what its going to be. Like January could be VIIIs, February could be IX's, March Xs, April new RAs/new Sportbacks, May old RAs/Lancers/old Sportbacks, June DSMs, Mirages, Galants then repeat. OR Q1 could be CT9As Q2 could be CZ4As, Q3 Lancers (New old RAs,Sportbacks, etc) and Q4 could be everybody else (older Evos/conversions, DSMs, Galants, Mirages, etc)

i dont think it can be done fair there is alot of hate on this site whether you want to admit it or not. Your car is not lowered its has stickers its has a body kit it needs to be lowered its not modded enough Is driven by a girl Not using pure Jdm parts blah blah blah. I just dont think it could be done fairly. just because your car is 700whp does not mean only you should be in the running there are some stockish evos that have nice exterior peaces and engine dress up interior etc that people will complain about here. Also any car owned by any member should be in the running as well. Im sure people would complain if a Z or viper won on a evo forum This idea should not take off period

Great idea. However I think that it should be more than just the "car" of the month. Nominate the members who contribute to the community and is passionate about the evolution of the sport etc. We nominate the person.....who just happens to own a Evo.
LXforums.com has an excellent "of the month competition" It has the support of vendors as well. Winner will receive a GC for a predetermined amount and also get to choose site features, such as the next months photo competition.

This wouldn't be fair, because I'd keep winning LOL j/k
I think it's a cool idea. Get's people and their cars some exposure and I'll just be kinda fun I think. Have a big article about it, like a magazine feature almost.

Let's not.
While the idea of a car of a month sounds pretty tempting and rewarding to the individual who wins, it really is a popularity contest.
And on what scale would this be measured? Like does the fastest car win? Does that car with the most parts JDM reign supreme?
Unfortunately the appearance of each car is completely subjective (which I suppose is kind of the point of the contest), but it seems like it can draw lines between people and promote flaming.
And say you based the result on power.....how would that work? Would you go by peak HP, earliest full spool, powerband, etc, etc? Some Evo's will dominate in one category and fail miserably at another. Can't have the best of all world's.
In any case the idea is good because it gives some people a place to show off their hard work. But there is also a "Show and Shine" section for that. And it doesn't require any kind of competition.
Competition brings out the best in people.....but also the worst. I say leave it alone and leave the showing off to show and shine.
