subdiving private for sale forum

Subdiving the "private for sale" forum
has it been considered forming separate categories for the "private for sale / wanted" section?
I am usually searching for evo related items but sometimes the threads get a little cluttered with non vehicle or other vehicle related posts. sorry if this is a repost, but it seems that the for sale section would be a little easier to sort through if it was organized into different categories.
thanks

Yea I would realy like to see that done as well. Mot evo owners arent looking for lancer parts and most lancer owners arent looking for evo parts. By seperating the two it would make it easier for both parties.

i was thinking something along the lines of the classified section on the 3si forum, just as an idea.

you can sell a shift knob under "parts for sale". it does not necessarily have to be separated between evo and lancer parts, but as the community and number of posts grows, it would be helpful.

My reason for pointing out something like that is that a simple Lancer/Evo split isn't going to work on its own. Personally I don't like the idea of 4 separate for sale forums, and I think we could probably come up with a better solution with a bit of thought. Luckily for you the decision isn't up to me.
I do think it's ridiculous that you post something for sale at breakfast and at the end of the day it's on page 4, but I think there may be better ways of working things.

i am just merely suggesting that it would be more helpul if the personal classifieds section was better organized than having just one catch all section.
it could be as simple as having a "car / parts" and a "other stuff" for sale categories.
i am pretty sure that i am not the only one who thinks that the current setup tends to get a little bit cluttered.
thanks for considering the suggestion.

I personally don't think that will solve the problem of too many items being listed. I think it's a lot more likely that a simple split will not have enough of an impact to significantly lessen the time it takes "new" items to get pushed back a page. Again, I agree with the reasoning, but I think we need a more radical solution.

I dunno at the moment. Honestly though it doesn't really matter right now because it's not up to me.
I'd personally like to see a certain degree of restriction placed on the for sale forums as well as a more organized method for sorting them. Ultimately what I think it's going to come down to though is whether we want a temporary solution or a long term one that we may not need to fix again.
At first I thought it was just because of Christmas that we were having so many sales, but almost a month and a half later we're still seeing a very large volume of sales. As the site grows (though its explosion seems to be over, it still has plenty of room for growth and expansion) the problem will arise once again. Rather than putting bandaid fixes in place I think we need to 1. set in place rules to keep the "bump" post from necessarily pushing back other threads 2. enforce the restrictions on off topic posting in for sale/wanted thread 3. restrict the ability of brand new registered users to sell items (i.e. people who sign up to try to sell their car and never post again) 4. sub divide the for sale threads without creating 40,000 forums and without having so much of a daily "push back" of threads. What divisions I think we should use I do not know, but with two full pages of posts from today and almost 3 full pages in the past 24 hours, I do not think an auto/non-auto or evo/lancer split is the best solution. With any luck I'll think of something a little more concrete soon (or someone else will and suggest it). Hope that helps.

Many other forums have their 4sale-want ads in categories. I don't see why in the world you think that a division won't help. I guess you think that"BUMP" is the better way? Evo owners like myself constantly end up opening ads that end up being parts for a Lancer or vice-versa.

If it is not up to you, then who is it up to and what are their suggestions? Maybe they do not think that it needs any changes
