Evo IX Crate Engine

Just out of curiosity If Mitsubishi imported Evo IX Crate Engines, what would the demand be? What price range would make them attractive?

wow i think that would be a good idea, as for the demand i'm not sure since i'm new to the evo scene but i think it would probably be a pretty good demand if the price is right. but like i said i'm new to the scene so i'm not actullay sure

this will be an interesting topic to follow

well a built motor without a core from ams and buschur is roughly 3grand.

so if you plan on making it more than 2, everyone will just buy from ams or buschur (well everyone who knows whats up)

In the future, having a stock replacement setting aside sounds like something I might do (once I prove myself a career Evo enthusiast). So from that standpoint, guys like me would deem that a precautionary expense, but one that offers a huge amount of comfort where mods are concerned. Hell, I've been thinking about a Cosworth 2.2 from WORKS just for when I push the stocker too far. I'd love to know that after a failure and a rebuild that there's a monster engine just waiting to go into action!

My opinion: I like it. I'd budget one in just for the peace of mind that I've got a spare 4G63 MIVEC production engine in reserve --- the mightiest and most advanced (and last) production 4G63.

i wouldn't expect it to cost less than $7500. when you spend that much what's another $3-4k on a cosworth 2.2l mentioned above.

I think a 5 thousand dollar pricetag would be a bargain --- but I wonder what JDM companies are charging (in USD) for performance enhanced 4G63 engines? Monster, JUN, Toda, Mines . . . does anyone have info on total engine offerings from these companies?

The cost structure would have to align below available JDM 4G63 power packages to be economical.

I remeber seeing in an older SCC that monster sport (im pretty sure it was monster sport) was charging 800,000 to 500,000 yen (roughly 8 to 5k) depending on the engine package. Not sure if that was for a fully built shortblock, or just their various engine kits. It didnt say, but thats what they seem to be charging. If you look at some of the toyota crate engines... They can get pricey. I imagine Mitsu wouldnt be any better...

My understanding is a full engine ready to be dropped in the car (not just a block)

I think a complete EVO IX crate engine would be in pretty high demand if the price was right. I really doubt anyone offers a complete one for $3500.00 + I think some of you missed the point.
