Question Austin, TX EVO CLUTCH JOB

Does anyone know of a good reliable shop in Austin, Texas that can do a clutch job?

The Mitsu Dealers in the area are asking $1400 labor for 6-speed which is totally insane. I would like to do the work myself but will need assistance.

Anyone with any experience in the area?

Wait...did he do it at Mits or on the side for you?

If he did that under you warranty at Mits...he hooked you up. I've never seen a dealership install a clutch for anything under a grand.

He did it at the old mitsu dealership that is now closing before he moved.

He worked it out with the service manager that he was working on a family members car.

I supplied the parts, money and he did the work.

Yes, he did a good job.

Is the guy still around? I was thinking about taking it to MZM Performance up on Howard Lane, he quoted me $750-$850. What kinda clutch did you install?

MZM does good work but they prefer to work on STi's, and they can come up with **** and end up charging you more than the quote.

MZM or Sould Speed are good bets. I think you will pay about $750 at MZM including a complete fluid change and $700 at Soul Speed for labor.

I can't vouch for any place in Austin. KevinD installed my ACT clutch for $500 out the door including the fluid change right in his garage. He is located in Arlington if you can make the drive.

MZM quoted me $850 for putting in the Exedy Twin, $750 for a single. If it makes any difference, which it probably will, it's on the 6-speed. Soul Speed are suspension and tire specialists, while MZM specializes on Evo's or STI's.

if mzm is charging 100 extra dollars to do a twin clutch then a single plate, you should NEVER go there. it is EXACTLY the same job, same time, same labor etc.... therefor it should be the same price.

6 speed cars are harder to do and therefor constitute charging more for that. i charge 625 for a 6 speed, and 525 for a 5 speed.

MZM did the clutch on my STI and did a great job. They are not cheap. Soul Speed mechanics have changed an Evo clutch before and have dealt with exotic cars as well. So that is why I listed them as a possibility. I am sure you could call Boost Logic for a quote too. If you were in DFW, KevinD is most reasonable and is expert on Evos. He changed a clutch for a friend of mine.
