Dyno Results from MZM

I went down to MZM late Saturday morning and meet up with QAT-R and runny_yolk. Although there were a couple other EVOs owners we are the only ones to represent on the dyno.

The Results:

runny_yolk -- stock -- 213.7 @ 6500 HP / 225.4 @ 4000 TRQ

QAT-R -- AMS Catback, ??? -- 212.8 @ 6500 HP / 224.9 @ 3500 TRQ

EVO Rosso -- Vishnu Standard Turbo-Back -- 236.2 @ 6500 HP / 242.5 TRQ

MZM is a great shop and I will be setting up an Austin EVO dyno day in late October. Their Mustang Dyno is very nice and unfortunately it is not the same spec as FIS in Dallas. The numbers seem much lower than FIS even though it was hotter when I was at FIS on July 12th. Here we the results from that day.

Evo Rosso - Stock - 242.1@6500 HP / 242.0@4000 TRQ

EvoRevo - Stock - 238.4@6250 HP / 235.5@3750 TRQ

ImportPePe - Stock - 227.9@6250 HP / 230.1@4000 TRQ

tx evo - Modified - Works 93 oct ECU reflash - 255.5@6750 HP / 235.3@4250 TRQ

okijack - Modified - 3" UR Turbo Back, Grounding Kit - 246.8@6250 HP / 246.6@4000 TRQ

SILVER SURFER - Modified - 253.6@6250 HP / 252.4@4000 TRQ

Anyway it was fun to meet some local EVO owners and it was nice of MZM to give me a t-shirt for the top dyno of the day for an EVO. I highly doubt I will ever win again but it was fun...

Updated:

Here is my dyno sheet from MZM:

On thing I noticed is MZM didn't rev my car all the way to redline. Notice how it stopped short of my FIS dyno run. I also noticed the weights are different. In any case I don't think these dynos are comparible.

Here is my dyno sheet from FIS:

Hey, it was good to meet everyone and I had a good time at dyno day. We should organize another Austin meet sometime.

Bill, that is interesting that they didn't take your car to redline...unless at redline you are actually losing power!
One thing I was wondering is if your tach matched the dyno rpm's. I've taken my car up to about 7800 rpm's and didn't hit the rev limiter. Have you by any chance hit your rev limiter? I would love to know at what point our cars begin losing power and if our tachs are off quite a bit.

Yeah, I noticed that about my dyno sheet as well. One possibility is that they didn't want to bump against the rev limiter so they let off early? Not sure what's up with that (I might call them later to ask). Btw, these were 1:1 4th gear pulls.

As far as the rpms, they asked us to remove our timing covers on our engines so they could clip onto the wire in our engine bay. My guess is that these rpms are based on engine revs and not dyno revs.

damn guys I wish I could have gone, but I had work on sat. I actually went on friday to run on the dyno. I pulled 229.2whp @6250 RPM and 243.1tq@3750 RPM, this was stock btw. I was suprised how high my tq was. Next time you guys do this I will definately take off work. Plus I will have a few goodies to dyno with.

That is too bad they did not run it up a little more, it looks like the HP was still climbing. The new curve looks much more smooth than the old, I am somewhat curious as to the difference in the two Mustang Dyno's. You will go back once you have the Xede and the cam gears on I would think?

OK, I found out why the two dynos don't match. My dyno from FIS was in 3rd gear and my dyno from MZM was in 4th gear. This would explain the massive differences between the two.

I will be heading back again in late Oct with the full Stage 1 installed.

Yea evo roso is correct. The numbers can vary because of which gear you use.
