I will attempt to explain the J-ville guys and our Evos.
Only one guy here with a bigger turbo and I wouldn't consider a 50 trim a monster or anything close. I believe we all enjoy driving our cars no matter what it is. A few of us went to an Auto-X the other day and totally enjoyed ourselves. Wouldn't mind giving it a try myself after I get back from Afghanistan .
I thought it was funny that you thought the dragstrip was hard on the car when an auto-x is way harder on every part of the car. Tires, brakes, suspension and motor are all getting worked for well over a minute as opposed to 11-12 seconds at the dragstrip. Only one car here with an aftermarket suspension and I highly doubt it is set up for anything besides looking good on the street.
Right now we have all added power one way or another and the only way to test that is at the dragstrip. Twisties test driver skill and suspension more than anything with the power coming in third, fun, but when you are not doing it on a closed course leads to nasty accidents, tickets, etc. Not to many road courses around here so we would never get to run the car and that is why we tend to go to the dragstrip.
I went to a driving course, back in 1998, for four days at Bill Scott Racing in West Virginia and had a blast. I did some ridiculous driving to include 120+mph in the rain and know that I would not want to do that with my daily driver because the cost would be prohibitive.
I look forward to meeting you when we are in NC at the same time and I am sure the guys will help you with the power mods when you get back.

i wholeheartedly agree with you on all of those points actually. my main thing is that to me i prefer understated performance more than n e thing, hence why alot of my car buddies consider me a nerd rofl. but n e ways i do understand what you mean about the strip being the only place in snores-ville,nc to test your car. deffinately. and my twisty runs are NOWHERE near those speeds. no no no no safety to me is a big priority, if i find a road i go speed limit many many many times to know the road and the traffice habits before even attempting to go even 5-10 mph over the limit. and if i have a group of people with me and 1 of them doesnt feel comfortable driving the road, that road gets ditched for another time, i dont want anyone doing something they arent comfortable doing. again safety is a big issue with me, now thats not to say i havent done some spirited jaunts down old 30 and gregory fork road before but never NEVER during peak traffic hours and NEVER n e where near triple digit speeds, ok whoops i lied there where a few times on old 30 getting close to 100 mph but those where few and far between. i think i need rofl. and gregory fork has a lil too many blind turns to go n e where near triple digits. but n e ways as i said i deff. understand and wholeheartedly agree with what you said. and as i posted before i meant no offence with what i said about the dragstrip, its just personal preference, and the d.s bored the everliving crap outta me guess i need to find a new hobby lol. well n e ways srry for the novel

the transmission if fine. The prob is I'm running outta 4th gear in the 1/4. The big re-builders only do the 5 speed. That's the problem. The clutch on the other hand is a gonner. But that was expected. I just need the evo 8 4th in there, but they dont do that so i'm kinda screwed.

Hey Bob, this was Jerry's responce from tamparacing.com

Hey, I do the 6 speeds no problem. But they can be very expensive to repair if there is something wrong with first or second. Mitsu doesnt sell any individual parts for first and second. so just one second gear syncro costs 950$ to get. I do have a couple of perfect 6 speed used trannies as well if it gets to that.

I thought this would be some good info for you guys who are into doing transmissions.

so after fixing the stupid azz boost gauge issue, i going to say that its safe to say my dyno of 28 psi when the mbc was turned up is probably pretty acurate, and im pretty dang lucky i didnt blow the fuggin motor at some point, but she is runnin good and strong at 26 psi now that i know the real deal, lol i am pretty happy with the results.

I said it that day. Don't know if I told you or Bob but I said something about changing out the hard nylon line for some rubber hose too.
