I'll be rolling your way tomorrow if that still works for you guys. Just give me a 2 hour heads up. I took a log yesterday..and let's just say the knock column looked like a timing column.

To try to retune this thing and fix my computer issue. On the dyno, I guess she was fine, on the street is a different story. It knocks so bad, the last log I did had timing in the -1's and up to 19 counts of knock from 20psi through 30.

Checking out my options as far as loudness goes for the exhaust. The exhaust that came with the car I just bought is a little too loud for my taste.

So my question is as long as I keep the downpipe would the exhaust flow decently well if I went with like a stock catback and something like an O2 dump? If not how about just an exhaust dump? I would just like to get the exhaust to a comfortable almost stock audible level for the 95% of street driving that I do NOT in WOT.

And if there are any days you guys are working on your cars let me know. I've been out of the Evo game (well the hands on part) for a little while and unlike my IX which I tried to keep everything professionally done (in case I had to sell the car) I would like to get my hands dirty as much as possible with this one! So I'm up for all the learning and inside info I can get.

I don't know almost anything about logging and tuning and I'd like to learn....if anyone is willing to teach of course!

What kind of exhaust is on there now? Don't know if a 3" downpipe will mate up with a stock midpipe/catback. Even if you don't like the volume of the car that would make no sense at all. If you are going to play that game you should have just bought a stock car. Bigger turbo= more exhaust energy= louder car. I know you know this. If anything I think you can get a Magnaflow catback for the quietness but you would probably want the dump for the power.

I should have worded my question better. I've never heard of a stock exhaust mating up to the 3" downpipe, but I was wondering if anyone else had. The loudness I can deal with personally. Something about real loud exhausts and people in my neighborhood saying "there goes that dick with the ridiculous loud exhaust." There is a BMW that lives in my neighborhood that you can hear several blocks away. Problem with his car is it doesn't sound good. Sounds like a Honda Civic.

Good point on the Magnaflow. I had that on my IX and actually enjoyed how quiet it was and the way it sounded. I think the muffler on the car now is Apexi (which my brother has on his Supra, but Supras sound a bit better than Evos IMO).

Guess I'll have to look into purchasing just the muffler. I don't want to sacrifice any performance. Just like to be as stealthy as possible.

I've driven in your neighborhood before and I figure as long as you are driving at a speed that you should be driving in a residential area your exhaust isn't going to **** anyone off. If you are getting on it then yes it will. Something tells me you don't don't drive like that in a congested area anyway.
