Well bad news to report...I did a compression test today on a warm engine. 2 cylinders only show 135 psi, which is 3 psi below mitsu minimum, and 2 cylinders don't hold at all. I guess this is proof that the metallic ticking wasn't my imagination. Looks like I'll be spending the 4 day weekend pulling the head..

Yup..thinking it's the head gasket between 3 & 4. Would that explain the other 2 being identically low too you think?

if its that, at least its a cheap fix.... do your springs and retainers and then maybe a little of what we talked about earlier. Heads gotta come off !!!

The head will need to be straight edged and possibly machined if it blew out tho.

Ouch man. I hope that's not too expensive to fix.

I've noticed the last few nights the car was parked in the garage that there was a little green puddle underneath it when i pulled the car out. So I'm going to have to check that out and see what it could be. Might be coolant, but not sure where it would be coming from. It's a really small puddle.

The Evo enjoyed her drive in the snow, but she didn't like the assclowns around her in pickup trucks slipping and sliding all over the place. Never thought I would see this much snow in Jville. I saw three vehicles in ditches within 1 mile of my house. Sucked for them.

Yeah, this is a lot of snow for here. People are still going to be dumb and try to drive around like there's nothing on the road.

Exactly. I mean it's not too bad to drive in snow as long as you drive with caution. People who are from the north think they are experts or something and drive at ridiculous speeds. Makes me want to just stay home all weekend.

I have pretty good reason to believe it's the head gasket, so it's coming off. Justin, or anyone local, where do you recommend sending the head to have checked out and possibly machined? I was going to send it up to Buschur or CBRD to have them give it a once over, and have them install the springs/ret while it's there.

Even though it took them a little while because of parts complications Edge Borthers locally is supposed to be good. They are the ones who built my brother's Supra's head. He didn't have the flow checked or anything, but a bunch of people recommended them to us.....that's why we went there.

Hey Bob can I use your compression tester? I'm trying to get a few things checked out on the car before it goes in for it's tune this week. Even though it sucks outside I may switch to 10w-40 today. I don't want to cold start it with the 20w in there.
