Whenever you are ready... drop me a line
So when are we gonna see pics of this shop???

ooo shiny... btw i think the end of season cookout at my place will be in Nov. Since the shop cookout is the 6th and my b-day is the 7th, I'll plan on the 13th or 20th. I'm leaning towards the 13th as of right now. So start RSVP'ing so I know how many burgers and chips I have to buy :-)

trust me man, you get a 2200deg coating in black on that thing and you wont need that blanket. About the time you reach down there one day to move or adjust that blanket and a tiny metal sliver stabs into your hand outta that thing you are going to remember me

that and it looks ghetto, i thought you were more picky than that

honestly, only time i would use one of those is like on a RWD car that has a turbo sitting close to either the ABS module or master or firewall.

luckily I have done some testing comparing ceramic coatings and blankets for industrial furnaces at work, we saw huge temp. differentials using the blankets (fiberfrax) over the coatings. so this was one of the main reasons why I chose the blanket over it. I did send out my manni to tirado to get it coated simply because it wasn't feasible to create a blanket for it.
will see how they both perform, but my guess is that I will be able to touch the blanket with my hand and won't be with the manifold.

Have to be the 13th for me. I'll be out of town on the 20th for a week. I'll plan on the 13th for now though. Let me know what I should bring. No reason you should have to fund all of this!

fair enough 13th it is...mark your calendars people. As for what to bring last time people brought beer and that worked out pretty well. I don't mind springing for the food if others have drinks covered.

I used to work at a plastics plant, and the extruders were coated and used blankets to cover some of the frequented areas, and they stayed a lot cooler than the exposed spots.

They look ghetto but there's no denying they work. Question is, is it better to keep the heat in a turbo or let some escape

ur turbine wheel spins based on pressure, and pressure rises when heat is applied. so yes sustaining the hotside heat is a plus.
thats also why some people experience slower spool with tubular manifolds vs cast. Cast iron sustains heat alot better than tubing.
