Engine in the EVO let go today. Couldn't have happened under better circumstances though, as it was at the shop already for some other work. We're exploring build project options right now, but she'll be back bigger and stronger soon.

Won't know for sure until the motor gets pulled, but the current reigning theory is stretched rod bolts and a snapped conn rod in #4.

@kelvar, likely going to stay 2.0, but I heard about something called "longstroke" rods last night that would allow me to rev to 9k that has peaked my curiosity.

in a 2.0 or 2.2 build if done right you should be able to rev it out to 9k easy. I think with a 2.3 your highest safe rpm is around 8-8.5k and 2.5 you don't want to go over 8k.

Agreed. There are some avenues being pursued currently on the turbo setup front that will drive which direction we go with the engine build. I'm just going to sit back and let it all play out for now and see what options I'm presented with before making a decision.

Sorry to hear Nick. Curious to see what the culprit was. How much boost were you running? How high were you revving?

26 psi @ WOT. Would only occassionally take it to redline, almost accidentally, and usually only in 1st.

Didn't really beat the car, so I don't think that's the "reason," if that's what you're after.

She's in good hands at Force-Fed.

That's a bummer man. It's an excuse for an upgrade though.

What do you guys use for cleaning your wheels? I've got all sorts of crap stuck on my rims that won't come off with my current cleaners or scrubbing.

I used to have some stuff from Mother's that would burn your lungs and eyes that worked REALLY well, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere around here.

Thanks!

-Mike

I usually just use water and a paper towel or sock. If its really stuck on try simple green. That stuff works wonders 9/10 times.

It may have been Purple Power. I would rather use something like Simple Green. That Purple Power can kill your lungs.

I have been using Pro Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish (I think that now it is called "The Original Spray Cleaner and Polish", as Honda has discontinued it). Either way, it does the trick. I use Simple Green for everything else, but, when stuff is left behind, that is the way to go.

Purple Power scares me.
