93 Octane Gas in Georgia

Just wanted to see what EVO X owners in Georgia are doing with the gas issue in the state? All that I have been able to find around is 87 octane. I live in the Alpharetta area.

Also how bad would it be if we put in 87 Octane in the X? Thanks for the help.

Can't find any premium

Parked the car in the garage and won't drive it until I can find some gas. My boss is picking me up tomorrow and driving me to work.

Sucks, but this crap has got to end soon you would think.

We've even run out of 87 here in SC. I've got 3/4 of a tank of premium I'm "nursing."

If I find 87, I might put a bottle of Octane Boost in with the fillup. Don't know if it helps but can't hurt.

Damn, in Va we never ran out of anything across the board. Except Sheetz, haha. My family in Midd TN reported the same issue as well as some in NC. I Guess ration out, but its not like the X has any kind of amazing range.

I'm in Raleigh, NC and it's hard to find gas...and has been for over a week. Most gas stations don't have ANY pumps open, and if they do they only have 1-2 pumps with 87 octane. I waste gas driving around to find a station with 93 octane.

I'm going on day 6 without any 93 octane available. All stations are bone dry, and when they get some in, it's just 87. I have the next few days off, and this blows...especially since I was gonna go look at a X again. Pointless if I can't put gas in it!

Might be time to get a water/meth injection setup installed, then you could run 87 easily at regular boost levels.

Man, welcome to last week for us for sure, as is300 said. I am so glad its over.

IMO, do NOT run 87 with octane booster. It'd be like 87.5 octane. My best advice is:

1) Drive another car during the gas shortage until you can get 93.

2) If you're catless, put at least three gallons of 110 leaded on top of an otherwise full tank of 87 and you'll be fine.

3) If you have to use 87, DO NOT BOOST. Use extremely light throttle and accelerate by revving, not by throttling, as this will require usage of the turbo.

I highly advise against #3 unless you have zero other alternative. Good luck.

I know it blows, but it will get better soon.

I heard this was all started buy someone down there starting a rumor about there being a gas shortage, everyone freaked out and actually did create a shortage.

Is there truth to that?

Don't think thats true. It was the last hurricane. I was headed out of town and all the pumps had lines of cars and the ones that didn't had no gas. Even the base ran out of gas.

Yea I have been struggling to find gas also. I was almost out the other day until I found 89 octane. As I was pumping I got only 8 gallons and they ran out. There was like 15 cars behind me waiting and they all looked pissed. Luckly things have not gotten so bad where this is public chaos. This time I got lucky and found a gas station on my way home that just got 93 octane and I had to wait almot 30 minutes to get gas. I am going up to Charolette, NC tomorrow for my sisters wedding and I heard it is really bad up there. She said that they have to drive around abandoned cars that have run out of gas. We are going to take my wifes SUV and carry extra gas with us and of course I will be packing.
