Weight reduction and the track / drag strip

We slightly touched on this before, I wanted to pick up from there and get some further feedback. Tires and suspension is not my strongest suit.

After doing further reviewing of specs. I have been looking at weight of tires. and so far this is the last that I have compiled. I was leaning on towards the rim protection of the Eagle GT tires, but after seeing my rims stick out from the hub, lol any contact with anything is going to result in complete and total Doom. So now again I am looking at the General Tire Exclaim tires. 20 pounds a tire interesting.

Goodyear Eagle GT
215/45ZR18
93W XL 400 AA A 1433 lbs.
50 psi
10/32"
26 lbs.

Dunlop SP 5000M
215/45R18
89V SL 360 A A 1279 lbs.
51 psi
10/32"
24 lbs.

General Tire Exlaim
215/45ZR18
93W XL 380 AA A 1433 lbs.
51 psi
20 lbs.

What tire do you guys have, what does it weight, and in your opinon how does it perform?

Im currently running the Sumitomo HTR III 225/40Z/R18. I was alittle sceptical at first but reading a few reviews and good price i went for them. Havent had any problems and grip is great. Tire rack reviews are good as well.
Sumitomo HTR III

Few Evo8 guys are running these for track events.

I'd say check out the Hankook Ventus. Similar price as the exclaims and I heard they grip pretty well - WoW I think can vouch for this.

On a side note, evo_soul... Your MSR rims I think that's what they are called aren't designed to be light weight so you'd be taking a hit there in the weight department.
And I always thought the Toyota was light enough need to drop more weight on that?!?

I have been looking at the Hankook Ventus as well. Probably pick up a set of these come the end of September when tire shops are getting rid of inventory.
