Ontario Tire Stewardship September 1st 2009

Just a heads up.

As of September 1st there is a new Government fee on all tires. This fee is $5.84/tire and amounts to $23.36 before tax.

Ontario Tire Stewardship (OTS) is an Industry Funding Organizaiton(IFO) implementing and operation the approved USED tire program,
a province-wide scrap tire solution for On-road and Off road tires supplied into the Ontario Market,
diverting them away from Buring for the fuel and land filling to 3Rs(Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) processing and uses.
Registration has begun for the Program, which officially launches September 1, 2009

Which mean there will an additional cost after September 1, 2009

Personally i dont mind paying an extra $30 to prevent tires going to the landfill .

That money is going into their coffers. Another government wage increase disguised as public benefit. Are they gonna have a nationwide tire cleanup?

^ From what i heard its not a clean-up but a program to take used tires. Prevent them going into landfills. The rubber is re-used for new asphalt, tires etc.

dude people from Toronto already gets mega raped on taxes and fees and they just keep adding them, it's ridiculous. For example in Toronto its an extra $60 for vehicle registration on top of the $75 that it normally costs, hell even the cable companies have added in that **** in that they charge to the customer where the money goes to help support the smaller cable outlets from going bankrupt and laying off. think about it does it really matter where your tire go when ur done. Your gonna give the crap tires to the mechanic who swaps them anyway and he will dispose of them anyway he seems fit wither you paid the extra or not, Its just another fee that we get stuck forking the cash over, just saying cause I'm not exactly rich
