Ban On Hand-Held Devices Starts in October 26th
Cops were out in force today, if you noticed alot of police today, this is why.
Now all they have to do is ban eating cheese burgers and putting on make up behind the wheel and it will be complete. lol jokin, well there are so many holes in this law, I am not sure. And unless the cops are going to stay on top of this, I think its just not going to have a big effect.
I am sure Bell, and Rogers and Telus are not going to like this.

Ontario's ban on hand-held devices while driving will take effect on October 26, 2009.
The new law will make it illegal for drivers to talk, text, type, dial or email using hand-held cell phones and other hand-held communications and entertainment devices.
Using a hands-free device is permitted as long as the device is:
placed securely in or mounted to the motor vehicle so that it does not move while the vehicle is in motion and the driver can see it at a quick glance and easily reach it without adjusting his or her driving position. For example, it could be secured in a cell phone holster, placed in the vehicle's cup holder, or fastened to the dashboard. It should not be sitting unsecured on the passenger seat.

Driving requires your full attention.
Many drivers today tend to view driving, especially in familiar environments, as a simple everyday task that requires minimal attention. In fact, driving is a task that requires your full attention every time you get behind the wheel. At the very least you are:
Operating a heavy piece of machinery at high speed
Navigating across changing terrain
Calculating speeds and distances
Responding to other drivers, signs signals and obstacles around you

I think he means that people will not be driving 20km/h in a 60km/h zone while they are busy talking on their cell phone
If everyone drove at the indicated speed limit it would always be smooth traffic
It takes one person driving super slow - talking on cell phone, drinking coffee, make-up or whatever to slow down many many cars behind
Well there is the other lane... okay let me rephrase that.
It takes X amount of cars to slow down traffic. X = lanes on the road

some unlucky days another car beside them or slightly ahead/behind them are doing the same thing too...then they both go slow at the same speed and you have no way of passing

beside's, as far as I know all police officers are required to take extensive driving course's so they are more than able to operate a mic and drive. And Remember Police are not above the law, they too have to abide by it Even while on a call, there is some leway given as they are the ones who are there to enfoce the law and to protect us.
Remember if your caught not complying this law you could get more charges then just what you think. Careless driving, Dangerious driving, Distracting other drivers etc. You think its nothing untill you get nailed. So for those with BT, dispite what other drivers do, Just use it. The last thing anybody needs is a dangerious driving charge a $500 fine and 6 points.
Be safe
