non RF speaker change

So I picked up some 6.5" Pioneer 3ways from Future Shop on sale the other day because the non RF stereo sound has finally gotten to me! I mean Im no audio guy by any means but it was getting a little ridiculous! Went in and got the pioneers on sale and decided to give it a shot without touching the deck or putting in an amp and this is what I got....

Man what a difference in quality let me tell you! I basically cut out the old mitsu speakers, which were paper thin 2 ways with a magnet size smaller then a hobbits ***** (brutal!), and use the OEM plastic around it as a new enclosure utilizing the OEM harness and mounting brackets. Basically plug n play!

If you guys were in the same boat as me with the non RF speakers then I highly recommend this. Should take about 20 mins a side... real easy!

I've been meaning to do this, I have a couple questions though: is the quality good enough without a complete overhaul of the deck? Did you change all 4s? or did you change the front 2's?

From my understanding for the front you're supposed to get component speakers and for the rear you're supposed to get 3-ways. Also did you change the tweeter in the door pillar? I heard the tweeters are basically useless and smaller than a toonie.

I replaced all 4. I just left the tweeters unplugged because they looked just as bad as the paper speakers in the door.
You can definitely tell a difference... Is it an amped component system with 2way mids in the rear and a amped sub in the trunk? no.. but for an easy installation and a few bucks it makes the sound a heck of lot more bearable!

This is what the oem speaker looks like vs something decent...

In 2008 MR`s had an option for Premium Package which added the Navi, Sunroof, and RF 650W speakers. The 710W they have in the cars now are much better, I wouldnt choose anything but RF for these cars.
