Road and Track Mag: 2011 STi vs. 2011 EVO SE - EVO WINS AGAIN!

Sometimes I feel like Subaru is just giving away STI's. I don't really understand what they are doing. They keep cutting the price of the STi every year. The WRX only costs a few grand less than the STi. The WRX now looks virtually the same as the STi. The WRX is faster than the STi in a straight line.
I don't get it. Sometimes I feel like Subaru wants to phase out the STi. It's like they'll just keep degrading the STi until it's the same as the WRX and then they'll become one model!!??!

There's two things about the STi...
Firstly it's cheaper than the EVO...
and secondly it is not as hardcore as the EVO.
The price difference is pretty huge. The STI starts at $37K while the EVO starts at $42,000. The higher STI with the Sport-Tech package costs $42K while the EVO MR starts at $52K!!! And that pretty much tells the story right there.
Also some of the more hardcore stuff like the Recaro seats... are good for people who are into performance... but some more timid people find the huge side bolsters make it hard to get in and out of the car for example... and fatter folks find the Recaro seats too restrictive. There are people who choose the STi over the EVO simply because they can't comfortably fit in the Recaros.

Nope... these are Canadian prices I'm quoting. Check the Subaru Canada website.
As an American said in this thread... in the States they both go for around $34K-something.

The $37k price tag for the 4 door sedan STi is correct. My buddy manage to knock off $2200 for the 2011 model at Willowdale subaru. There are owners bought the Sti w/ $2100 off the price tag @ trento subaru.

And the picture Crester posted was jokes, and people still complain the evo looks "just" like a lancer. we should stop give mitsu any more ideas or they might just put the evo front end on a lancer to boost sales. oops too late, I think they are already on it LOL

Wanna see what the Subie guys are saying about this article on their forums? Look here... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2120989
Surprisingly... most of them seem to be level headed and openly admit that the EVO is the better performing car.
