Fuel System Cleaners

How many of you guys run fuel system or fuel injector cleaners in your car? The idea of these is to use these periodically to get rid of deposits in the fuel system and injectors that eventually will clog up stuff and rob your car of performance.

Is one brand better than the other??? The most common ones I see in stores are from STP, Champion and Prestone. There's also the Motomaster from Canadian Tire's brand... but I don't know about that stuff... lol

Use the Chevron or Redline stuff if you can find it. It really shouldn't be needed if you're using a quality premium fuel though.

waste of money to be honest with you. Fuel now a days is alot better than back in the day. If you use Shell Vpower you will accomplish the same thing, just takes longer. Reducing deposits in the combustion chamber. On the Injector side of things. I am not convinced that those products are really needed. The deterrence in the fuel should work to prevent this.

But hey... I am open to the idea. JRP has a fuel system cleaner from Redline. But its not really a fast mover. Unless its for older cars with known issues.

I bought into the hype of fuel system cleaners. I pour in a bit of lucas fuel treatment every fill up on top of shell v-power. I really can't tell you I notice any difference before or after except maybe quieter/smoother engine sounds. I got 2 galleons of lucas fuel system cleaner on me that will probably last me 2 years.

I also pour in gumout complete fuel system cleaner every 5000km, and at 17,000km I can tell you no difference.

I have not noticed any fuel savings or additional milage though. Just a more slightly noticable quiet/smooth engine performance.

To do an injector flush I think is $300 at the dealer. Apparently I need it, where else
Can I do this for cheaper.

I love seafoam However I dont think 1/3 ratio for oil, intake and fuel work well. Next time im doing 1/2 tank and intake. A tip is use a measuring cup and also I did not use someone to hold the pedal down, but rather cover the hole with your finger a little bit while slowly letting the vacuum suck it in, let sit and start it up first couple sec will run weird but will clear and don't hydrolock it *aka pouring the whole can in= BOOM*.

Interesting.

I'm coming from the Porsche world, and Chevron Techron was about the strongest thing that was generally used w/o issue.
