TYPE C Service for 2009 Lancer GT

Just wondering of all the services required in Type C which of them is the most important thats needed to be performed aside from engine oil and filter change. Orginally i just wanted an oil and filter change thats it.

heres the list of required services

Replace engine oil and filter
Service Type C (items 1-18)*
Rotate and inspect tires
Inspect rear drum brake linings and
rear wheel cylinders
Replace air purifier filter
Replace engine air filter element
*
1 - Check coolant, brake, transmission, steering and washer fluid levels.
2 - Top up washer fluid and test engine coolant strength.
3 - Inspect lights, controls, horn and wipers.
4 - Inspect wear and tire pressure - adjust where possible.
5 - Lubricate locks, hinges and door seals.
6 - Inspect exhaust system.
7 - Underbody inspection.
8 - Inspect engine air filter element.
9 - Inspect cabin air filter.
10 - Test battery and charging system.
11 - Inspect front and rear brake condition.
12 - Clean antenna mast.
13 - Road test vehicle.
14 - Adjust parking brake.
15 - Inspect brake hoses and lines.
16 - Inspect steering and suspension components.
17 - Inspect driveshaft C.V. boots.
18 - Inspect fuel system components, lines and connections.
19 - Inspect cooling system hoses.
20 - Inspect belts and adjust tension where necessary.

most of those are inspections..you can do that all yourself

Don't really need to change: Replace air purifier filter unless you have a problem with the car smelling funny inside

Money grab. All those can be done by yourself. Save your money and just do them yourself

Orange means it wouldnt hurt,
Red means, you can do on your own or elsewhere
Green means, you should do it

These types of services are just made for people with no knowledge about cars etc. Its one of those things that people see and think it must be important to get it done and pay for it.

How often do you think a tech. just skims over the items on the car just to get it done and out. They dont own the car so they dont care attitudes.

I declined the type C service and opted just for oil change..... And the service guy started telling me how its gonna affect my warranty and stuff

^ Tell him to suck it lol. If you get all the critical items done there is no way they can refuse work covered under warranty.

That warranty trick is a scare tactic.

+1 on an Optima battery. I installed a Red Top within a month of buying my RA. Much better CCA, which helped out as it was January.
