Scarborough mitsu service also failed me horribly. They charged $100+tax to read an airbag code. I was like great, I don't care I know it was caused by me unplugging the connector, did you try to clear the code? And the tech was like........yes...it won't go away cause its an active code. I knew it was BS, they never tried clearing it. And they tried to talk me into how its very important to have airbags working and how I should start the repairs by paying $300 preorder for a new sensor and then add on the $$$$$$ from there.

Long story short while I was at my trusted mitsu dealership in Mtl they cleared my code for free. And when I did it again, they billed 10mins of labour to clear it. ($15)

Now I only use Scarb Mitsu to buy parts. Even though they're all at a huge mark up for my USDM car, sometimes when I'm in TO and I can't wait for parts shipped from the states I have to go with them.

Would a generic ODB II code reader have been able to read/clear the code, or was something Mitsu-specific required?

The reason I ask is the generic readers often go on-sale for less than $100 at Crappy Tire.

have you heard of cbi? It's a us mail box rental in niagra. It's about 5$ per item and they hold it until you can come and pick it up. With a usdm car there is no reason to go to a dealer. I just picked up some ngk plug for 40$ vs $150 here ( Evo tax) and if it something I can't do Andy at neetronics has a pretty good mechanic.

Airbag codes need the MUT-III scanner, not a generic obd2 reader. Only dealerships and some body shops have it. One actually sold on this forum for $500ish. (thats a steal)

Yup I use cbi quite often. But if I need an OEM part same day or within 2 days I have to go to the dealership. Like crush washers, axle seals, diaqueen, fender liners, etc. If I don't have a time constraint usually I get stuff shipped from the states.

Hopefully their sales staff are more competent and hospitable than their mechanics

Manuel was my sales rep and he did a fantastic job of getting my Ralliart but, the other staff in the whole building is a joke. Not taking my car there again.

It would be nice to get our collective issues out to the press if we could. Save others from experiencing what we have, and maybe if we are lucky, wake Mitsu Canada up to the fact their sloppy dealer service is hurting their bottom line.
