Trans Recall

You guys will be waiting for a very long time. They are not sending out any info on this. Mitsu is just hoping that people dont know about it and get it fixed on there own.
I found out because I have a friend that works for up Mitsu up north amd informed me of it.
I actually went in playing dumb as I was not sure of what would happen. I explained to the service writer that I was grinding 3rd and 4th gears and it was a pain to drive.

He said no problem, its a factory recall issue. So I made an appointment, ordered my clutch from Import Turbo (these guys had the best price on the clutch and very easy to work with.)
I dropeed the car off the following Monday and I am getting it back tomorrow. I hope!!!!

Really not much of a problem. I also told my neighbor that has an 03 and he dropped his off on friday for the same thing. They are also covering his front brake rotors under warranty as they are chipping. (flaking-whatever)

ok...brakes are another issue....my caliper seized and they dont even want to touch that...but thats off topic....as far as the recall...are they replacing or rebuilding?...becuase either way it is going to cost the same pretty much...but i would rather have it replaced than rebuilt...i know how some of these shops hire their techs...no offense to anyone out there...but i have seen some pretty bad techs out there

To those of you who are getting their work done under warranty, any mods? Did they give you any grief about them?

My fifth gear is grinding but I have an HKS twin disk in there, what do you think?

as far as the clutch goes im not sure.....but for all ur other mods..i would def pull them off...even up to the intake...even tho you are going in for a trans problem, they will void the warrantty ont he spot...atleast thats what the dealership told me. They gave me a lil insider when i call to schedule an app. last week and said make sure there is NOTHING on your car, becuase they will go over the whole car to void whatever they can. So IMO take off all of your mods

Tranny

They are just replacing the gears not giving you a new gear box.

As for the clutch, you may have a problem getting the gears done. They can say that it was caused because of a high performnace clutch or that the clutch install caused the problems. (This is just a maybe)

I have taken my car in several times for different issues. My driver side Recaro broke, (dont ask me how, i will never tell) and now the gears and I have never been given any trouble.

I have the HKS suction, turbo back 3 inch exhaust, lower 2 inches, rims, upgraded brake pads and lines, Hallman MBC, MR BOV, grounding kit, 255 fuel pump, Als flash.

No questions no problems. The only thing I get is that the techs like it to test drive. Thats about it.

Tranny

Ok guys, just picked up the car from Mitsu.
I am very happy to say that nothing is missing or broken on the car.

The tranny came out perfect. The gears all work great and no grinding whats so ever. I never really had a problem in the first place but a recall is a recall and I was able to get the new clutch installed for $181.56. They charged me for 2 hours of labor. I know it didnt take the guy 2 hours to install it since the tranny was already out with the new gears going in, but I still figure $181 is cheap to get the get clutch installed. So I paid $482 for the ACT Street clutch and $181 for the install and new gears. Thats a grand total of $663.
Thats what I call a great deal!!!!!!!!!!

My factory clutch and pressure plate were still in pretty good shape considering it had 33,657 miles on it.

So is this a real recall or a TSB. Does anyone have a reference # for this. I called my dealership, who by the way are very cool to work with, they said no such thing exists, she looked it up on the comp and could not find a thing.
